Sponsorship PR application - Philippines

Hello!

My wife applied for PR under spouse sponsorship and I am her sponsor. She is a citizen of the Philippines.
I checked her application status online and it says:

1.We received your application for permanent residence on March 21, 2013.
2.We started processing your application on December 6, 2013.
3.Medical results have been received.

After reviewing some comments on this forum I realized that other applicants get requests for their passports after their online status changes to “In process”. But my wife received the email requesting for her passport and additional documents on September 2, 2013. The email said “At the end of this document is a request for additional documentation required within 45 days.” The documents requested included her passport.
We sent the passport to the Canadian Embassy in Manila on October 7, 2013. That is two months before the date that her online status changed to “In process”.
What worries me is that even two months after we sent the passport there is no indication on her online status that they have received the passport. When we sent out her medical information, it only took about a week for her online status to say “Medical results have been received” but no change has been made yet to show that they have also received the passport.
I tried emailing them and asking if they could just let me know if they have her passport, but I got no response. My wife emailed them as well but they didn't respond to her either.
When I track the shipment of her passport, it shows that someone has received the package but I don’t know why it doesn’t indicate that on her online status, months after we have sent it out. Please let me know if you have had a similar experience. Should I be concerned that they have not received my passport? Is it normal to get the passport request before the application goes “In process”?
Also if you have any opinions on how much longer this process is going to take, I would be very grateful for you sharing it with me.
Here is the shipment tracking information of my wife’s passport to the Canadian embassy in Manila:

Hi, there is no "Passport Received" status, you will never see that there. Just sit tight and trust that they have it (as you can already see 'package delivered' via your courier). They won't answer a question like that.

My prediction is that your wife will be all set (with visa), by January 6, 2014.

January 6th?! ;D That would be amazing. Our first anniversary is on January 8th and it would mean a world to both of us if we get to be together by then.

Well in that case I hope it comes through for you. It all happens very quickly. That will be very short notice to buy an airfare on. She will also have to attend a CFO or PDOS seminar, in Manila it's Fridays ONLY for those immigrating to Canada, so you can easily burn a week getting into one of those classes. But then again, perhaps she's no where near Manila.

She's in Davao City. I was there with her until recently when I was told that my mother has been diagnosed with cancer and I had to come back to Canada. She has never traveled alone so if she needs to go to Manila, I have to take her there myself.

There are others. I only mentioned Manila since that's the one we went to (are familiar with). Perhaps others also from Davao City who have already completed that can relay their experience here.

Manila now has them every day Monday to Friday starting at 9:30, my wife did hers on a Thursday. I "think" the only locations are Cebu and Manila.

Is there anyone here from Davao that has some experience regarding this?
I didn't even know this is something she needs to do. Thank you for letting us know. Does she needs to somehow prepare for the seminar?

hii everyone
Me and my parents are sponsored by my elder brother in 2008
i am dependent i was 18 year old in 2008 when brother filed family immigration case.
We sent our medicals on 6 November 2012 and were expected to b expire on 6 November 2013 but till 20 october 2013 there was not any responce by CIC so we asked to MP on call that whats going on so he replied that validity of our medicals got extend by our immigration officer for 3 months and then after few days on 31st October 2013 our lawyer got PPR email in which written that You are required to submit your passport(s), photographs along with a copy of this letter by MAIL within the next THIRTY (30) days from the date of this letter. As the validity of your visa(s) has been already established and is limited to a fixed date, it CANNOT be extended under any circumstances. We therefore urge you to read and follow carefully the instructions below without delay:
as my parents are already in Canada as Visitor so they asked original passports for them and photocopy of mine as i am out of canada with photographs and fill form of eyecolor ,hieght etc
we sent all this via MAIL on 14 November 2013
and still waiting for passports and my original passport request
does anyone have idea whats going on with our case ??
please reply all and if someone is going through similar situation need your views about it
our VO is Los Angeles
thanks
