Sponsorship Evaluation question...

In the Sponsorship Evaluation IMM5481 my hubby is confused about Number of family members and persons included in undertakings in effect and not in effect

Shouldn't the total number at the bottom be 2? We get five lol which I think is wrong because the only current 'undertaking' not in effect would be me. He's never sponsored anyone else or has been married to anyone else except moi....and what do they mean provide details? Does he explain that he's taking care of me? We're confused ???

Well 5a says number of persons included in the generic application ( we thought it meant that we write the total number we put in that form which was 2..me and himself included). So then I guess we skip the whole 'previous undertakings' part because he has none right? Then we go to 6a Spouse or common law which is one -me ....7...total number would be 3 still ??? how are we getting this wrong? :-\

No, question 4 is filled out for you and it says 1 - him(or you) the sponsor.

5A is current undertaking - sponsored person (1)

5B are previous undertakings and you skip that completely or put in zeros. And there you go


Also you skip Q6. This form is used for sponsor assessment, so if one is to sponsor a child, or parents he/she would include spouse in this question.

IMM5481 Is a Sponsorship Evaluation Form meaning this one tells CIC about the sponsor (income and how many people he is sponsoring and/or how many people he's already responsible for). If the generic form states there are more than one person being sponsored they need to be included as well.

Q4 Yourself (sponsor, that's 1)

Q5-A) Current undertaking (sponsored person(s) listed in a generic form (you (1) + anyone listed for sponsorship (in this case there's no one))

If it's just the two of you, he is sponsoring you only, and if he had no previous undertakings you leave everything else blank. That should be two persons.


B section is for previous sponsorships in general. For example, my boyfriend was married before and he sponsored his ex wife and her two children to come to Canada. That was in 2006. They got divorced and everything and now, 7 years later he is sponsoring me. We filled out section B of this form by adding 3 more people. That added up to 5 in total. We left the rest of it blank and just wrote their names in detail on the other page.
