Hi Everyone - I am living in Toronto as a permanent resident with my wife and kids. I have a younger brother back home who is about 18 years old living there with my parents. Is it possible that I can sponsor him as a permanent resident here. I have very stable job and career and am able to support him financially if he comes here. Please suggest a suitable way forward to proceed with my case.

Thank you.

1. No, you can't sponsor him, as he is not an orphan and you have relatives living in Canada.
2. You could support him for a study permit, but that is not a permanent solution.

Thanks for clarifying. +1

You could sponsor your parents and he would be on their papers.

If you look at the the OP's timeline, it's extremely unlikely that he could get a parental sponsorship application in progress before the sibling became too old to be considered as a dependant, even if they reversed the maximum dependant age limit again.

The MNI required based on the information available would probably need to be at least 85000 starting from 2016 tax year.

MNI = Minimum Necessary Income.

There are strict income requirements that need to be met in order to sponsor parents/grandparents.

That's a rough estimate for 2016 based on a family size of seven. If you have more than 2 children, it's even higher. You will need to meet the MNI for 2016, 2017 and 2018 for a parental sponsorship application in January 2020. I assume, again from the available information, that you cannot meet the MNI for 2015.

Alright, so to be eligible to sponsor parents we need to exceed MNI for consecutive three years. Got it. Thanks a lot, this forum is the the best

In fact, the three consecutive years gets you through the door. You have to continue to meet the MNI on a continuous basis until the application process is completely finished. If you fail to maintain, the application can be refused at any time.

Can he get a supervisa along with our parents? I don't think three years MNI would be a pre requisite of supervisa, or is it?

No. He would need to apply separately for a regular visitor visa.
