Hello everyone, I had some questions regarding my wife's residency application. I am applying to sponsor her from Peru and was unclear on some things. I know the sponsorship process has been simplified. In the past when I would check county specific requirements for Peru it asked for police records, medical exam and also the questionnaire appeared there asking for picture proof of several life events (engagement marriage honeymoon etc). Now however it only asks for a document if you served in the military and proof if you are divorced, nothing more.

From what I understand I only need to send in the application forms that appear on the CIC website and nothing else. It just seems to be too easy, theres no mention of any medical exam anymore or police records. I just wanted to confirm if there are any known country specific requrements for Peru that I should include in our application.

Another thing I wanted to confirm is the proof or intent to return to Canada for citizens living abroad. I currently live in Peru, but would move back to Canada once my wife's application is accepted. I read on the CIC website that you need to include some kind of proof that shows you are willing to return, it said mortgage payments, loan payments or a letter from an employer. This letter would just be included in the application envelope when we send it to Canada? This is all a first for me and would really appreciate some help.

I've gone over the checklist page but there were still lots of questions I had that's why I came here. Thank you very very much for any clarification.

The applicant will still need to do a medical and submit police certificates. They do not do upfront medicals anymore. You do it once it is requested.
