Hello guys,

As I am new to this, hoping you guys can help me out with the following concerns.

We did not have a rukhsati (Reception, bride takes groom), only Nikkah (Marriage certificate provided) was done. I have read up on few federal cases were this has been a problem and I have read countless forums where people have suggested to be the problem. My question is, I have all supporting phone records, chat logs, to prove a genuine continuing relationship. Is that not enough?

I did not travel to pakistan for 14 years, but travelled for 5 days for the wedding? Is this a problem? Although, I got in touch with my spouse 4 years before the wedding, and I have FB chats to prove our ongoing FB chats, although not extensive.. but it shows dates from various months we spoke, and eventually leading up to last year where I proposed getting married over FB (I know, lame) but eventually we got married 3 months ago. I stayed with her the 5 days, and she lives in her parents house. I only have pictures to prove this and we took a trip to Lahore with family, thats about it. What do you guys suggest? Is this a problem?

Thank you in advance!

I would say yes it will be a problem, CIC guys just beat around the bush, they only know that in Pakistan there are lavish marriages which have Rukhsati, Nikkah, Valima and lots of people attending those events a vital part of it. When ever someone doesn't have that they try to put red flags on those cases and ask for more evidences which some times if it doesn't fulfill their agenda leads to case rejection.

If I talk about your case and say from my experience and trends I see, you would have problems in the future when your case reaches LVO. But it can be mitigated if you provide them enough evidences, which include but not limited to nikkah namas, chats, skype calls, evidences you sent money to your spouse, your future plan when you want to get married, your reason of only Nikkah, your reason of just going 5 days.

Even we people who simply got married had lots of problems gathering the simple evidences, I am sure you would have even more issues gathering all of the above evidences. Also use a immigration lawyer (like MR cohen the forum's lawyer) or someone who is an expert in filling Pakistan (South Asia)'s immigration cases.

So the evidence I have so far,

BBM chat screen shots proving continuous conversations
WhatsApp screen shots proving continuous conversations
Phone calls in cell phone bills
Facebook convo screen shots

Receipts of gifts provided
Receipts of wedding clothing, hall costs, video photographer receipt, list of people coming and relationships, itenarys of people who travelled from outside, my travel documents nd family members who traveled.

Pictures from event, and pictures from days after that I was there. Pictures of family members etc.

All other documents per checklists,

Do you think this would be enough to prove a genuine relationship?

You need rukhsti period. They don't accept Nikah only anymore they need proper marrige. Even if you apply nikah only. They will ask for prove of rukhsti. You can apply with Nikah only, but when they are processing the application. They will ask for rukhsti.

You need Nikah ceremony pictures. Places you went (pictures), Pictures with relatives, barrat (etc)
honeymoon pictures
all the communcation evidence
when you flew there to get married (boarding pass or airline tickets)
passport stamped copies (entry/exit)
if you give money to ger (recpeipt of money transfers)
Wedding Invitation Card

That should be good (but rukhsti is important)

Is it possible to have nikkah and rukhsati in one event? Because technically there was rukhsati as she left with me, and we spend the days I was there living together? Although, i do not think I have any pictures of us leaving the hall together and such. ?

You need proof that rukhsti was done even it was small. If you don't have pictures then you will need an affidavit or a letter signed by oath commisoner that rukhsti was done and the date it was done. You need to exaplain to CIC that no pictures were taken for rukhsti for whatever reason you have. IN short you need a rukhsti letter

I'm a Pakistani and I don't really believe that your marriage is genuine! Sorry, but your story doesn't make sense, "I have FB chats to prove our ongoing FB chats, although not extensive..." What does that even mean? Who gets married and leaves after 5 days?

I would suggest, wait about 6 months before applying, in the meantime, visit her for a few weeks (if you can), make an "extensive" chat history on skype, Also make arrangements for rukhsati if thats possible..... make a good case for yourself buddy!

What is a rukhsati letter? How can i obtain that, by any oath commissioner, even in Canada? or has to be in district where letter was signed??

Also, Bubbles87, I do not think you understood correctly. I have ongoing FB chats pre wedding, and post wedding evidence include chat services, phone bills, gifts etc.. And yes I only went to Pakistan for 5 days, because I am on a tight deadline for 2 years work, and career related. and could only find 5 days to go. I also have evidence regarding this decision, based on work agreements etc.
