Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hello,

I am in the very early stages of sponsoring my parents to come live in Canada.
I have mailed my application in May 2011 and I have since checked the "processing time" page on CIC.

Looks like in the past few months that I have been checking it, it has not changed.

Step 1 of processing:

As of Aug 3rd, 2011 :
46 months (working on applications received on September 10, 2007)
Issuing acknowledgement letters for applications received on April 29, 2011

As of Aug 31th, 2011 :
47 months (working on applications received on September 11, 2007)
Issuing acknowledgement letters for applications received on April 29, 2011

As of Sept 28th, 2011 :
48 months (working on applications received on September 11, 2007)
Issuing acknowledgement letters for applications received on April 29, 2011

Have they stopped processing "Parent Sponsorship" altogether?

Hello... they are updated quaterly, so if you checked in May for the first time it has not changed. It should change in october according to my calculations since the last change was april and then July.

"This information is updated weekly (step 1) and quarterly (step 2) and shows the time it takes to process an application after we receive a complete application package."

They have not stopped processing, they are just taking quite a long time since "priority" is given to spouse, common law and dependent children applications and not to parents or grandparents.

Be patient, and good luck!

Well, Thanks for the reply, but I am far far away from STEP 2 which is updated quarterly.

For now, all I am concerned about is STEP 1 and as you can also read in the text that you have copied and pasted, they are updated WEEKLY.

I know Sponsoring Parent is not a priority, but by looking at the processing times I have posted in my original question, it looks like they have stopped processing them altogether.

I want to know if anyone can clear the matter for me. Thanks.

Same here I send my application in May, I am confident they recieved it because the register info said they do, I just want that ackno letter, so I know everything is going well. am worried and praying everything is filled correctly.

It shouldnt take for ever for this, I dont want them to send me a letter in January 2012 telling me something is wrong.

I dont think they stop processing, I just think they are giving priority to other types of applications.

sucks cause the processing times keeps going up, whereas everything else is processing as normal

unfortunately the parents and grandparents class is not a high priority. Just so you know the 1st stage approval for spouses on outland applications has gone from 36 days in may to 70 days now. There is a huge backlog of parent applications, and because they are not a high priority, they may be trying to get the spousal and dependent classes processed through Mississauga then going back to the parental applications...

Unfortunately there has been "talk" about decreasing the parental application numbers further, which means longer processing times. I really hope things work out for you....

Tan tan the processing time on CIC webcites is not correct its not reflcting the current changes they have done in parents sponsership , so many sponser who filled their applications in 2007 to 2008 recived the additional documents request . and based on that request they alreday started to processing them and from sound of the letter they will start sending the visa soon. go to the below link on CIC where you can see what process they have changed for parents and you will see how they have changed all the processing time thanks

Hello everyone. There is this important poll at CBC (http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/inside-politics-blog/2011/10/question-of-the-day-464.html).

I request everyone to vote NO at the CBC website link provided above. The poll question is, "Should Canada limit the number of parents and grandparents that it allows to immigrate?" Just vote NO if you want to sponser your parents in future and have them immigrate to Canada!

Minister Jason Kenney wants to stop the Parents and Grandparents stream of the Family Class Immigration program, or put limits (caps) on the number of applications CIC accepts. Just like the limits of the Federal Skilled Worker program and the moratorium (stoppage) of the Investors program. So just vote NO and rate the comments by clicking on the "Thumbs Up" or "Thumbs Down" button. Some of the comments posted on the CBC website are full of hate, anger and mis-information against immigrant parents and grandparents. You can also leave your own comments to clarify the matter and show them your point of view.

So please, everyone, visit http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/inside-politics-blog/2011/10/question-of-the-day-464.html vote NO and rate the bad comments "Thumbs Down". Do it for your parents' and grandparents' sake.
