My parents do not have a marriage certificate. I am sure other folks had a similar situation. How did you handle it?

Hi all

Please confirm if all photocopies of documents need to be Certified true copies(attested by notary) or not?

Also as far as photocopy of sponsors birth certificate goes, is there any other way to prove relationship if the sponsor does not have birth certificate? Please confirm

thanks

Hello,
I have a status change question. Submitted my parents application on Jan.2015 and received the confirmation email from CIC.
I got married on Oct.2015, and if having a baby in 2016. I guess I should update CIC my marriage status change and the new baby.
Is CIC going to re-evaluate my family size and family income? Do I need to provide my husband NOA ?

Thank you,

Thank you,
You only provide your husband NOA if your husband signed on as co-signer for your parents for Jan 2015. Since you got married in 2015, your family size increased by 1 for 2015 tax year. If you have baby in 2016, your family size increased additionally by 1. So assuming you were single when you submitted your application, your family size was 3, 1 for you and 2 for your parents for 2015. However since you got married in 2015, your family size is now 4 and thus must meet 2015 LICO for family size of 4 on your own income. Your husband's income has no effect as he is not your co-signer at time of submitting application. When your baby comes in 2016, you must meet 2016 LICO income for family size of 5. Again on your own income. You cannot add your husband's income since he is not a co-signer.

Thank you,
You have to notify CIC for the changes.

And yes, CIC will re-evaluate your family size and family income. In coming years, once CIC starts processing our app, we will be asked to provide latest NOA's. In your case, if your own income isn't sufficient enough to cover your family + your parents; you have to include your husband as a co-signer (don't know how it works). Just providing your husband's NOA may not suffice. So, either you submit new forms along with NOA (or whatever CIC asks) or CIC asks from you after getting informed about your changes. I suggest you to notify CIC as soon as anything changes.

Does anyone know the remaining backlog for PGP up to date? Liberals has promised many changes and improvement for Family Reunification but even a 10,000 intake quota for 2016 has not been confirmed. I think they are busy with Syrian refugees but there are many other immigration problems that are due to be addressed properly too.
The processing time for PGP at most visa offices still looks torturing and not a single word I can find that suggest things will change. What can we do, folks?

Just so you know, the co-signer spouses can be added or removed at anytime during the processing of sponsorship application and therefore their income can be added to total household income. CIC had to change their income calculation policy after they were sued in federal courts. I have confirmed this with the manager at CPC-Mississauga.

Hi Everyone,

First of all, sorry for interrupting the discussion ::)

Some of you may have seen a thread I started in September under Family Class sponsorship about PhD research I'm doing on the Family Class application process.

I'm looking for people to participate in an anonymous online survey about their experiences of the application process to sponsor family members. My goal is that the results can be used for advocacy to make improvements to the system for people who want to sponsor family members in the future.

I'm still looking for lots more people to respond to the survey - the more people respond the stronger the results will be. In particular I’m looking for people who are not well-represented in the data I already have. Unfortunately I haven’t heard from many people who are in the process of sponsoring parents and grandparents yet so that's why I'm posting in this thread (I'm also trying to hear from people who applied to PGP in different years, as the process has been constantly changing, to see what you think about these changes).

If any of you are interested in telling me about your experiences with, and recommendations for, the sponsorship process I'd like to invite you to go to https://survey.ryerson.ca:443/s?s=4526 .
On the first page you'll find more information about the survey, and at the bottom of that page there is a button to click on to start the survey. The survey can be done in English or French. The moderators of this forum have given me permission to post about the survey.

Finally, if you participated in an interview earlier this year, thank you again :D but unfortunately I'm looking for different people to participate in the survey so that I can compare the answers.

Thanks so much everyone for taking the time to read this and good luck with your applications everyone! :)

The survey is ridiculously long and you never mentioned it's going to take hours. I started it and left it around 40%. Sorry mate!

To me, the processing time at LVO for PR processing isn't correct anymore.

For example, according to CIC processing time for PGP,
48 months (sponsorship at CPC-M) + 72 months (average PR at LVO) = 120 months (~10 years).

But if you follow 2009-10-11 PGP application completion time, in most cases, it's taking ~5 years. 4 years for sponsorship application and only 1 year for PR processing all around the globe. So, I wouldn't worry too much.

Hi all,

I am applying parents immigrants in Jan 2016. I got married in 2015, and was single for 2012, 2013, and 2014, if I don't take my wife as a co-signer, do I still need meet 4 person income for 2012, 2013, and 2014?

Second, if I take her as co-signer, can we add up our incomes to meet requirements for 2012,2013,&2104, even though we were not married for those years?

Thanks!

yes - you need to meet 4 person income for all three years. Yes - you can add your incomes for all three years.
