Same way that lot of 2014 people are waiting while 2015 people have already landed.

Rossie - Do you have any insight why this is the case? Are they now doing LIFO? It is frustrating to see this trend. One other member keep saying they are filing away older files but there is nothing to back that up except for the trend we see.

This is what I think:

FIFO kicks in Stage-1 at CPC-M and then it restarts in Stage-2 at LVO. Now, some get stuck in Stage-1 and hence delays the whole process.
Cause of Delay in Stage-1 (SA):

• Sponsor & co-sponsor
• Different jobs, locations (harder to gather info)
• Delay in verifying social welfare info
• Delay in receiving requested docs (i.e. NOA)

If a 2016 applicant gets SA faster than a 2015 one, even after having same LVO, his application may/will be processed first when it turns out at the LVO. Simply because it came in first. But will he get PPR/Visa faster, that's a different question. This will depend on,
Cause of Delay in Stage-2 (PR):

• Work load, manpower, resources & work practice of LVO
• Parents vs Parents with Dep
• Delay in medical
• Delay in background checks
• Delay in receiving requested docs

Take my case for example. We were family of 3 (myself+my wife+my mom). I worked in one company for the entire period and stayed in same province. I did not have co-sponsor. There weren't perhaps any reason for SA delay.

For stage-2, my mom's file was transferred to Singapore. Singapore proved to be very efficient in handling PGP cases if you follow the SS. It didn't ask for unnecessary docs (like NDVO, HKVO did) and was quite fast after they started PR processing for all cases in this forum. Apart from it, my mom is a widow with no other children. She never had any govt or military service. Although she traveled to more than 15 countries with my dad but never stayed more than 3 weeks in any country (except Canada). Again, it didn't have many factors for causing delay.

So, your situation and luck play some role here. If you look at the chart I made in 2015 SS, you will see not much difference among these 3 years (the trend makes sense) although there should have been a higher SA rate for 2015.

I wouldn't trust a member with +1 and -30 rating. :-X

Are there any people here who got sponsorship approval and no further steps yet? How is that possible people from 2016 got PR when 2015 still waiting?

The great majority of 2016 have already landed or gotten PPR, 2016 got fast tracked and 2015 and prior filed away, 2017 will also get fast-tracked.
2016 and 2017 will be LIFO, new government, something to prove. 2015 and prior conservative government, nothing to prove for Liberal Govt.

Still playing the waiting game.

As per courier tracking, the additional documents requested were received on 28th Dec which included, PCC, Spouse's Death Certificate, Schedule A, Additional Family form, RPRF, photographs.

Ecas says Medical results received. Hoping to hear back on PPR really soon but seems like things are looking pretty grim for all applications on the forum. I don't see many PPRs coming though lately.

Just today morning I got the request from New Delhi for Passport request.
I completed my medical in June, 2016, File was received in 2nd Jan, 2015.
My whole process completed from New Delhi VO
My parents are in Canada so I am sending Passport to Ottawa.

How long background check took? When did background check changed to "in progress"?

3 months but in my case they also need RCMP Fingerprint Clearance letter as my parents stay here longer than 6 months under supervise.
