Sponsoring Parents in 2015

What is your LVO and did they reply to your emails promptly? I am not getting any response to my emails. My LVO is Colombo, Sri lanka

Ottawa. It doesn't matter though. As long as you send your request email before the deadline they cannot say no. But may take them a few months to respond. In my case it took the CIC-Ottawa office 2-3 weeks to respond.

Congrats vnexpress. That was super fast! My mom is schedule to go back to BKK on November 20, Hopefully we'll get her PR card soon!

I finally received my mom's passport yesterday and we will land this weekend at the Pacific Truck Crossing in BC. My mom has US visitor visa, so we are planning to go to Bellingham WA to do some shopping before heading back to Canada to land.

Congrats! I hope everything goes according to your plan.

But isn't it weird that Ottawa stamped the passport with PRV on Sep 29 whereas you only sent the passport to them 6 days later? Something to think about while you start holiday shopping ;D

So we got a couple of new messages in MyCIC, 2 days ago they asked for information about my dad's mandatory military service and my parents' travel history. We just submitted the information and we got a new message. They want my dad's resume and list of publication and advisors at university. Why do they need his list of publicatins / advisors / resumes? Any reason? Any one else was asked for these?

Can someone advise me on how to make mycic functional. I tried linking my mom's application many times and the system keep saying that they can't find that application in the system. If someone have experience something similar and was able to link your parents application, please share me your trick. Thanks.

They asked my father's CV too. They did not ask his advisors though...may be they think he was working on a critical subject matter in university. I saw US asks for this kinda stuff ...

My mom landing process couldn't be smoother.
She holds a 10 year US tourist visa, so we crossed to Bellingham, Washington to do a bit of shopping this morning (Sunday October 23) at around 11 AM. We arrived at Canadian border at around 1.55 PM. There were ZERO line up at the border. We parked our car and went inside, handed over our passports and her landing document. The officer was super nice and friendly. He asked me if my mom can speak English or I can translate for her. He asked 2 questions indicated on the landing paper and asked if she has anything to declare.

My mom answered No to all.

He told us to wait for 10 minutes. It was less then 10 minute before he called us all back. He went through a few details on maintaining her permanent resident status, applying for SIN# and Medical Plan and asked for mailing address to mail the PR card. He then congratulated her for becoming a permanent resident of Canada.

It was that SIMPLE. We drove off at 2.15 PM. The entire process took 20 mins!

When I submitted my mom application in 2015, I was prepared to wait for at least 5-7 years for her to become a permanent resident. But I was wrong!
We were very fortunate that our process overall has been quite smooth and efficient.

I'd like to thank everyone on this forum especially Rossei for all your support.

For those who's still waiting, don't give up, your turn will come soon!

For me, i left my dad's passport info empty and filled everything else and it worked

I got the SA in June 2016 and the applicatiom was sent to Ottawa. However I haven't received any medical request yet or anything frim CIC ever since. Is anyone in the same situation? I can't link the account on MyCIC either. Is it possible to contact the LVO to check for status of the application? email address? Thanks.

Would really appreciate your suggestions.

I hope others share their opinion to let you decide between the two alternatives you have. I do want to mention that PCC can be obtained if you have a relative or a friend in Pakistan and they can apply on your mom's behalf. she doesn't necessarily has to be present. It gets done within 1-2 days. If your mom belongs to Khi I can guide you a bit further on the official process over there.
