Hi everyone!

My husband and I are currently working on his perminent residency application and I was hoping to get your advice before sending everything, making sure everything`s fine or perhaps i should add some more.

quick history: i met my husband back in sept.2010 while visiting my brother in vietnam. Him and my husband were friends at that time and thats how i first met him. I stayed for 2 months, went back to Quebec and came back to live in Vietnam in Jan.2011. I`ve been living with him ever since. We got engaged in Feb 2012 and married (legally) in aug.2012 but had 2 wedding ceremonies in nov.2012. My parents came to the wedding ceremonies (they stayed in vietnam with us for over 2 months) and my mom`s best friends (like family to me) came to the ceremonies too. In 2011, i had my best friend visiting me in Hanoi too. My husband and I applied twice (back in dec.2011) for touristic visa but they were both denied (as it happens so often, from what i`ve heard).

so here`s what i`ve included to the package (with all the legal documentation needed)...

Proof of our relationship together:
-about 300 photos (6 per page on double sided paper) of us in various occasions (travels, wedding, random pics...) and photos with friends who provided with personal letters.
-a list of friend`s infos (name, add, phone, email) who can attest of the truthfulness of my husband and i`s relationship (we have about 45 names from people we know here in hanoi, where we live)
-about 8 letters from close friends in vietnam (who have known us since the beginning) + letters from my brother and his wife and my parents + my mom`s friend who was also present at our wedding ceremonies.
-copies of our wedding cards from friend and family (from vietnam and canada)
-our wedding invitations for the 2 ceremonies
-i printed the facebook "friendship history" between my husband and I (they can see the number of friends we have in common, all the stuff we shared with each other on facebook (videos, pictures and stuff), photos of us posted by friends, etc)...

more "legal" proofs that we are together:
-our wedding certificate
-a proof of our joint bank account (that we opened shortly after getting engaged)
-we lived in 4 different houses since living together (loads of problems with landlords) and all we have so far is the rental paper (and soon the police registration paper) from the house where we live now (since Dec. 2012)... Because we werent married before, we never got to have both names on the rent... I`m worried that this is not very good :(
-most of the plane tickets (online payment) of the trips we did together (vietnam, malaysia, thailand, indonesia...) + copies of the stamps in both our passports

REASONS/PROOFS that I, as the sponsor, intend to come back with him as soon as he gets his P.R:
-a letter from my ex boss in QC (the last job i had there) stating that he WILL re-hire me as soon as I land in Quebec for full time work (including salary)
-i explained that appart from wanting to go back home after being in vietnam for nearly 3 years now (to be close to my family, friends) the reasons why i want to leave vietnam are:
  • i currently work part time doing a job that i am now really happy with (teaching) and would like to go back to a managing position (like i was doing back in quebec), which is hard to get here unless you own a company or something. Also, at my job now i don`t have neither a work contract, insurance, work permit or any advantages.
We`ve been living in 4 houses since i first got here and always had problems with our landlords (wouldn`t pay back the deposit, wanted to take the house back and gave us less than a month notice, etc.)...
(basically) i want to go back to quebec to find personal and professional stability
recently, all my closest friends that i got when i first came to vietnam (8 in total!) have left or are leaving this month to their home countries.

A few questions:
- As for my husband, he`s a tattoo artist here and vietnam and wish to discover the artistic scene of Montreal (which is pretty much dead here) and improve his technique and learn about quebec`s tattoo standards. He also got a reference letter from a friend who visited in vietnam. she`s a well known tattoo artist in montreal and provided my husband with a short but great reference letter. Should I include more of his art to prove as some kind of portfolio? that he will not have difficulty finding work as a tattoo artist in montreal... or is it not necessary?

--We don`t have much written conversations history as we mostly talked on `skype`while i was back in Quebec between 2010 and jan. 2011... and it`s really not interesting stuff! we had a lot of problem with internet connections and it was mostly stuff like "hey! my connexion sucks! try to log on facebook instead.." and stuff like that. But all this stuff make up about 60 pages on skype log alone! should i really include it??? i feel like the package is huge already!

- since my husband and i both live in vietnam, do i need to send the package to canada or singapour? Im very confused and can`t seem to find the right answer online.

-last but not least: this may sound stupid but i stapled paper together... is that ok? because i know they ask no album or anything like that... ?

==============

What do you guys think? Should I add anything else?
Thanks so much for your reply! :p

It sounds like you are applying outland (staying in Vietnam during the application process). In which case, you would send your application to Mississauga. They will determine if you are able to sponsor your husband. After which, CIC will send your application to the Singapore office. Since you are applying to stay in Quebec, you will need to pay particular attention to which forms apply to you or not. After you have been approved as a sponsor, you will need to print out the approval letter from CIC and fill out the Quebec forms to apply for your husband's CSQ (certificat de sélection).

I hope that helps.

Hi quebecvietnam

Looks like the package you are putting together is going to be very good!!

A couple comments.....
To be honest, I would avoid saying anything regarding your husbands work or his plans to continue tattooing in Canada. It will sound like his primary goal is to further his work experience here in Canada. I understand what you are trying to say but I really think it will hurt your application more than help it. By showing your own employment letter you are allready proving you can provide financial support.

You are also going to be looked at very closely due to you being female sponsoring a vietnemese husband. Completely un fair i know but it is reality.

As far as Skype conversations. I know what you saying regarding not a lot of written conversation as Skype is audio/video but what it does show is call duration. Ours was the same.....you would never be able to make out what the conversation was but it definitely gives the officer an idea of how long you are online together. I think the newer versions of Skype do not allow you to save much more than 6 months of previous conversations. In my case I was able to retrieve 2 years of conversation. Was about an inch of paper :)

Oh and I would avoid the staples....pretty sure they state somewhere not to. Paper clips are ok I think

There is also a thread for folks sponsoring their vietnemese wife....lots of good info in there as well

Take care and don't hesitate to PM me any other questions

Taking screenshots of your skype webcam chats is the best because it shows both you and your spouse's faces, shows the time/date on the bottom right corner of the desktop, and also shows the duration of the chat.

Thanks guys for your replies. These are good tips that I will put in practice!

If I understand correctly, I need to send the whole package thing at once (identification papers, wedding paper, proof of relationship, photo, medical visit, police check, blabla) + the part 1 (sponsor), send all of that to Canada... THEN they will tell me if i can apply as a sponsor and THEN i will have to provide with part 2 (immigrants guide) and the specific quebec papers... am i right?
This can get very confusing...

And yes, I am in vietnam with my husband and we intend to live in Quebec once in Canada.

PS: on one of the forms they ask the date that i will come back to Canada... but i can't say! We will only move there once my husband gets his P.R... what should I say?

It is important to send BOTH part 1 and part 2 TOGETHER to Canada. Then once you are approved as a sponsor CIC will send everything to Singapore.

As for the date, put the date you think you will come to Canada. I don't imagine it's binding.
