Do you mean July 2013? Just wondering, because you said earlier that you started the PR process September 10, 2012.
Sorry Bart, I was confused there for a second. Yes, our process started in September 2012. The application was received in April 2012 (according to e-cas).

I was wondering the same thing. The other thing I was wondering about is why they would ask someone who has already been approved as a sponsor to submit a Canadian CBC?

Is it the same arrangement if you are already in Canada?
I'm wondering the same thing about the CRC. The request for the CRC came from Seoul immigration (when it was still open) after the AOR which we got at the end of July. The whole situation is totally f**ked. The gist is that the guy said I did get the sponsorship approval and they'll re-send the email.

Yep. My wife and I were living in Toronto when we got decision made. They mailed her COPR directly to our address in Canada, and we just did a flagpole landing at Niagara Falls. Just make sure your address with CIC is updated if you move.

This makes more sense, if they said SA letter was sent in July 2012. Though they should have emailed it to you.

Honestly i think someone in the Seoul office just made a mistake. That should NOT be applicable to a family class sponsorship like this. Any police checks for sponsor are done internally within CIC.

Even more strange is the fact that he got SA in July 2012, so the file would have then gone to Seoul. That VO in Seoul was pretty efficient. If the Seoul VO got the application in July 2012, you would have thought the PR application would have been completed in Seoul before the office closed at the end of January 2013.

Ya I thought the MO was to close out all existing files that were already started, before officially shutting down operations at a visa office.

While many apps (like mine) zipped through the Seoul office, there are always cases that don't. When i first started using this forum, there were a few people going through Seoul office who were well over a year in waiting and got called in for an interview. Sometimes it's just luck.

That screw up was a pretty big one if that's the case. It added another 5 months to this whole rigmarole.

It did go to Seoul. Request for more documents was sent in September when the process was started and that's when they asked for the CRC. The funny thing is ... when we went to the Seoul embassy (to the immigration and visa), they said to go upstairs to the consulate and get the form for finger printing and CRC. When we went up to the consulate, they had no idea what I & V was talking about.

Anyway, we go the form, fingerprints done at the police station in Seoul, mailed it to Ottawa in the same day and then waited 5 months before the fingerprints were sent to Seoul (and the Manila via me).

Is this timeline making sense?

For anyone's future reference, this is what was included in the email requesting additional documents:

(X) RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) Fingerprints Result from Canada for your sponsor: for details, please visit web site at http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cr-cj/fing-empr2-eng.htm

CJ - how/why did you wait so long to do this? I would have been trying to get an update after the first month or two. Or, did I miss something? Anyway, glad you got the info. I bet you are close to the final approval now. Good Luck.

With the length of time it took for the CRC and whatnot, I figured it was normal. It wasn't til I got on here and started seeing what you guys were writing and talking with you all that I realized something wasn't right. Not to mention that most times that I've tried to get updates from an embassy, I've never received an email back.

Just a few points about applying for jobs from korea to canada: I didn't do anything special. What I did:

- i applied for ( career ) positions with high salaries
- jobs I have related experience and education in before I came to korea
- only jobs that I would love to do
- while in korea I have added several certs. to my resume in my area of education and past canadian work experience

In my interview they did not ask 1 thing about Korea except "what time is it there" and me "200AM". They all chuckled. I did list all of my Korea jobs on the resume. So, obviously the job wasnt for teaching.

I much prefer in person interviews. I have never used skype for anything except this interview. It went well...waiting now. But, i'm used to waiting haha i.e. PR.

That all depends now on whether or not they had started reviewing documents before receiving the CRC or if they waited until it was all together to do anything at once. If they waited and got the CRC in March, we may not get final approval til June next year maybe based on the 14 month timeline and the strike. (I'm a pessimist now thanks to this whole disaster)

That's awesome! Thanks for the info!

How long ago did you start applying for jobs?
