Entry/Exit Document for applicant: I think it was ROB that mentioned this document. It is not listed as a required document. Why is it needed? Where did you get it? What is the name of it?

Would the GU have this?
No idea why it's needed as it doesn't appear anywhere on the CIC forms. They requested it via email, and the exact wording was:
(X) Korean exit / entry certificate since age 18 for you

It basically shows all the dates the applicant entered and exited Korea. You can get this from any Korean Immigration Services office.

Dunno if you should include it as CIC doesn't ask for it. Perhaps with processing at Manila they won't care... who knows. I would say if its easy to get just include it, especially if you'll be in Canada during processing.

Probably similar rates to Shinhan.
The regular price we paid is $20 for a transfer, and often they would have promotion periods where it's only $5 or $10.

Are there any limits to the amount you can transfer? Yearly limits/single transfer limits?

Good to hear that KEB has a branch in Calgary, thanks K2C.

There are no total limits though the folks at the bank will, incorrectly, tell you otherwise. There may be daily limits but, in my experience, no one seems to know what they are.

Personally, I got so sick and tired of arguing with bank managers about this, that years ago I started having my wife do the transfers. According to my bank, there were no limits of any kind for Korean nationals.

It's probably not needed but, as Rob_TO says, they might ask for it later, at which point you may have already left Korea and have a hard time obtaining it from Canada. I didn't include it in my application but had my wife get a copy to bring with us, just in case they ask later. It's called a "Certificate of Entry and Exit", and it's in English and Korean so you don't need to translate it. Costs 1,000 won.

My wife says you can get it at your local "dong" office. You can also get it at any immigration office, including the one at Incheon airport so you could always just pick it up as you're leaving if you like.

I'm going to toss in one Cert. of E & E...what's one more document eh! Wife is getting the GU docs today. Waiting for the arrival of Option C. That will bump up our application prep. to the medical stage (saving it for last since it starts the clock).

Note also that's 3-months AFTER getting PR status. Alberta people have said their spouses just here on visitor visas have gotten healthcare. The reasoning is very simply... money! Ontario, Quebec and other provinces want to save money on healthcare expenses so this is just one way to do that. The 3 month rule applies to new PRs, as well as to Canadian citizens who have lived outside Canada for a long time.

Alberta also doesn't have a provincial sales tax, while in Quebec you're paying 10%!
I was wondering Rob_TO if you actually tried to apply for OHIP before your spouse got PR. I ask because I'm reading this in the OHIP Regs.

You may be eligible for the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) if you are included under one of the following categories:
-you have submitted an application for permanent residence in Canada, and Citizenship and Immigration Canada has confirmed that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence in Canada ;
I know most people think that section only applies to those who apply inland, but I've been reading elsewhere (from people who claim they've actually done this very recently) that you can get OHIP as an outland applicant before your PR is approved, if your sponsor has been approved and you've landed in Ontario for 3 months. Did you have any personal experience with that?

Get your wife to call UPS. They'll come right to your door for pickup.

Do they have to see the contents? I ask this because I don't want to package it and then take it apart again, etc.

I doubt it. I've sent several document packages from Korea to Canada by UPS and they guy has never looked inside.

International Shippers:

Is it worth it to pay a company to ship our stuff (household stuff only) to Canada or just sell everything off? That is a question we keep asking ourselves. If anyone has any experience, it would be great to hear from you.
