Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if someone could please help me out if you were in this same situation as me. My husband just left to go home to Jamaica as immigration has been looking for him but he never was caught. In the meantime to him going home we hired a immigration lawyer to help with the situation and sponsorship papers. My husband has over stayed his time in Canada as he came to Canada on a work visa and has been in the country for 5 years. How long am I looking at till he gets to come back to Canada from when the papers for sponsorship have been submitted?

You are looking at 1 month and some for sponsor approval and once you get that and file is sent to Kingston, they take up to 16 months as per the website. This all depends on how prepared you application is and what problems that may arise from him over staying his welcome!

There is a Kingston forum that may be of more help to you as we are all going through the immigration process.
