This may sound like a stupid question, but do we need a photocopy of the marriage certificate?

We haven't had it back yet and it states in what we need that:
Photocopy of your marriage certificate, if you have a co-signer and he or she is your spouse.

Well hes not my co-sponsor so do we need it or not?

You need to send a copy of your marriage certificate as part of your proof of a genuine relationship.
You do not need to send it because of the co-singer issue - you're sponsoring him, so he can't be the co-signer. The co-signer is for when the sponsor is sponsoring another member of his or her family, and gets their spouse to help pay.
However, you do need to send it as part of the documentation of your marriage.

I'm finally in the process of putting together all of the information, forms, and proof. I was wondering if anyone had advice on how to organize it? Should all of the proof be left to the end? Or, could the proof be attached to each form/question that it's related to?

Sarah -

I think you'll find that people have organized their packages in many different ways and there's no "right answer" to this question.

As for me, I created separate bundles containing the various supporting documentation for our relationship (e.g. travel, photos, communication, wedding, other) and then bundled the forms separately (one bundle containing the sponsor forms and another containing the applicant forms).

But again, I don't think there's a right/wrong answer.

Personally, we answered questions on separate paper directly behind the relevant form (assuming that the space provided on said form wasn't large enough) and then referenced the relevant evidence which would be in a certain, titled folder or section.

Basically, anything to make it as easy as possible for someone who's never seen an application before to find what they needed.

Make sure that all separate papers have either sponsors or applicants name, DOB and form number where relevant.

Alright, thanks guys I think the way we're doing it is fine then.

I have another question though, about the medical examination. In the 'Document Checklist - Immigrant', #11 states to include "Copy 2 of the Medical Report- Section A that the DMP will sign and give to you when you undergo the medical examination'. The medical was done close to a week ago, but he wasn't given anything back. Should he have gotten something? Or do they send it off, and we don't need to provide anything for it? >< As far as he understood, she was going to take everything and send it off to London, and it wasn't needed in everything else we were sending.

As i recall (it was a couple of months ago i had my medical), the DMP i used filled out the form and handed me back a section of it. It was like a carbon copy.

The form was sent by her to wherever it goes (i listed on the form i took to her that my visa office was London) and then copy 2 was sent with the application to CPC-M.

Meanwhile, with the forms I already have, I'm worried about the 'Application for Permanent Residence in Canada' form, the last page asks the following.

You must provide the following details about each of your family members, whether they will be accompanying you to Candada or not. You must include your spouse or common law partner, if applicable, and all of your dependend children, and those of your spouse or common law partner who are not already pemanent residents or citizens of Canada.

He hasn't listed me, is that correct as I am a Canadian citizen, or does he need to list me and send off an updated version of said form?

That's correct. You should not be listed on this form. He would only list dependent children here. If there are none, I would put "not applicable" in the space for Family Name. He would, however, include you on the "Additional Family Information" form, IMM5406.

Sorry to continually bug you guys, we have all the paperwork set and we're just waiting the marriage certificate. Now from what we've seen it says it takes 10 weeks approx from the date of the marriage, however when we got the marriage license the person who issued it to us said we could rush it through due to immigration progress? Could someone please clarify is this is possible and if so how? We don't want to wait till late September to apply if we could get it now, he wants to come mid October and we was hoping to get it sent off as soon as I received the forms.

People on the forum have been saying that they got the marriage certificate much faster than the published guidelines. Some thought because they ordered it online.

Thanks for the reply but I actually meant something else. Let me clarify, we have applied for the marriage certificate online as you said, the problem we have is the registration of the marriage itself. Its now late September and we got married on 17th July, it says to wait 10 weeks whereas I was under the impression we could send the paperwork almost immediately after? We are still waiting and the website has no information on our registration. Does it normally 10 weeks? It seems like an awfully long time and we've now past that and heard nothing. We have everything else and its getting ridiculous as hes coming here in mid October and we really want it all sent off so we can show customs and immigration.
