Hi, somehow i got to the forum and i finally had a breath of fresh air... So this is my case and ive tryed looking for answer and have gottentons of them almost all silly!! So please id appreciate all the help i can get from you guys :D :D. This is my case

Ok. I just turned 21, my dad is a canadian citizen lives in canada, me, i live in venezuela, full time student. My dad will be sponsoring me sometime in january-february, Im ok since i know my aplication will go without problems and planing to go live in canada sometime during this year.

Now the case i really need help with is my boyfriend's we have been together for a long time, his mother lives in USA and he is studying here in venezuela, we both talked and agreed to move to canada specially since weve been a couples times visiting my dad and we both loved it, and searching online about the live, weather, university, etc we decided to move there to live, work and study. We want to go since we have a million more oportunities there than here in venezuela due to the actuall situation of our country. The thing is (our mean monster) he has no family in canada that can sponsor him, we are still undergraduates so he cant aply for skilled worker. How can he apply for the residence? Please id really appreciate your help since everyday that goes on live in this country gets harder and harder, he is wealthy enough to start from scratch in canada and not depend from his sponsor nor the canadian government!!! Plz help us ;D ;D :D

Liver together for a year south there, get your PR, and sponsor him as your common law spouse if you don't want to get married in order to sponsor him.

I don't know if you should do this...as you may no longer qualify as a dependent child (eligible to be sponsored). (I'm not positive on how child sponsorship works though, but if you must be a dependent child, you cannot have a common-law partner or husband).

Here is what I would recommend:

Option 1) Get your PR in Canada, then return to your country and live with your boyfriend for 12 consecutive months to qualify as common-law partners, then return to Canada and apply for spousal sponsorship for him living outside of Canada.

Option 2) Get your PR in Canada, then marry your boyfriend and sponsor him as your husband under spousal sponsorship for him living outside of Canada.

If your father is sponsoring you to Canada, you will be under the age of 22, not married (or in a married-like relationship), and his dependant.

Your nationality is not known to us. Care to share the circumstances further, please? (ie., if your Dad is a citizen other than Canadian, married here, and you're his dependant.) That would be different than if he was Canadian, had you with your mother in Venuzuela, and is now getting your citizenship papers to you. It may also be that your Dad got work here, is coming under the skilled worker program and is sponsoring you.

If you enter into anything other than a bf/gf relationship with this man at this time, you could jeopardize your own sponsorship under the request of your father.
It would be better to keep it bf/gf, not living together, have you land and then explore your options to sponsor him. Permanent Residents are unable to be out of the country to sponsor their partners. It may even mean you marry, however getting you into Canada is the best bet and main concen for now.

I mean no disrespect from the other poster, but would caution you to explore this situation more thoroughly than just here on a forum.
Forums are amazing for opinions, guesses, emotional support and estimates, but for facts, it's always best to start at the source: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.asp

NO, do not do this. This would disqualify her from being sponsored by her father.

Hobby and sidkrose both offer good advice.

Please note that if you have been living with your boyfriend in a common-law relationship for 12 months, you are NOT eligible to be sponsored by your father as his dependent child. So if you are not living together now, DO NOT START! And don't get married either. You say you've "been together for a long time." I HOPE that means just dating.

If you are not and have not lived with your boyfriend get your father to submit the sponsorship application as soon as possible. Once you have landed as a PR in Canada (physically landed) you can then make plans about whether you will return to Venezuela to live in a CL relationship for 12 months or to get married. One step at a time.

Was your father a Canadian citizen when you were born, or did he become a citizen sometime afterward? If he was a citizen at the time of your birth then you would likely qualify as a citizen thus making your situation much less complicated. In other words, you wouldn't have to be sponsored by him as a PR, and you could sponsor your bf whether you were living in Canada or Venezuela either as a common law partner or spouse (if you married). I didn't see any clarification from you on this point. You could check out the self assessment tool on CIC to determine whether you likely qualify as a citizen or not http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/rules/index.asp.

Ok, well my advice was given under the impression that her father was a Canadian citizen when she was born. In which case she would be granted citizenship as well. If he wasn't, then yes she should do what other posters suggested.

This is fine. Become a Canadian PR by having your father sponsor you, then either live with your boyfriend for 12 consecutive months to become common-law or get married and you can sponsor him.

You should already begin saving evidence of your relationship, such as photos, proof of trips you take together, letters or cards to each other and things like that.
