I just landed in Victoria today. Back and across on the ferry and almost five hours later, and I'm finally officially a PR. :)

Wife is Pregnant... What to do?

I think for inland that may be true since the processing time is currently at 14 months total and medicals are only good for one year unless the visa office decides to let you extend it. With that said, as scylla mentioned if there are no hiccups with your application, your wife should get...

I don't see the one near me being that thorough. They didn't do that when I got my work permit even. They just saw I had a work permit and were pretty satisfied with that.

Well I called Service Canada and they told me it would be fine. They said as long as it's the official letter from CIC and not a copy of it, I can go get my SIN before landing.

Landing in BC but living in Alberta- Can I get my SIN in another province?

Thanks everyone. I'm already in Alberta and have been living here for the past two years (just got my PR though). So I looked on Service Canada's website and found out I can actually get my SIN with just my COPR and passport, so I think I'm going to go get it tomorrow before I officially land.

Yeah you can flagpole in a car at the border. That's what we'll probably do when we drive down in two more weeks! Congrats and that is most definitely your COPR. :)

I just figured out that you can actually get your SIN with just your COPR and passport before "landing" if you're already in Canada. Which is good since I might have a job before I actually get to land in Canada.

Landing in BC but living in Alberta- Can I get my SIN in another province?

So I'm going to be landing in mid april in BC while my fiance and I are on vacation down there. There is a very good possibility that I will have a job to come back to in Alberta by then, so I'm wondering if I can get my SIN from a Service Canada while in BC? That way I don't have to wait to...

I love Chapel Hill, home of the awesome Tarheels. The rest of NC, I can take it or leave it for the most part. But it's still special to me since it's where I was born and raised.

That's true as well. I'm from a smaller city in NC. My best friend now lives in Chapel Hill, which although it isn't big. It has the benefit of being a university town with a much younger population, so things are better for her there (she's black and he's white) than in our hometown.

I'm from the South and as much as I love my southern roots with their fattening cuisine and awesome accents (well I may be a little biased, haha) I don't think I'd like to raise a family down there because of the fact that my fiance and I are an interracial couple. I'm black and he's white, and...

I wasn't attacking the US, but every single time I've been to the US while leaving Canada I've been harrassed by border patrol agents. And everytime I've come into Canada from the US, I've been greeted with smiles and a friendly attitude. So after my personal experience, it's my ideal that quite...

It may be an urban legend, but the message is very much true. Alot of Americans have a superiority complex and think that just because they are American citizens, everyone else is beneath them and if you leave their beloved country, you're a traitor. Another reason why I'm happy I don't have to...
