Salaam,

Sorry, I haven't looked at our site for a bit.

Abdel! Congratulations! What great news! I am so excited for you! I, as probably everyone in our club, will be thinking of you on May 28th. Let us know what happens. This is wonderful news for everyone who applied around the same time as you did. I wish you much luck. Everything will be fine! I bet your wife cried with happiness when you gave her the news, didn't she?

Tracy,
Yes I too feel that the worst thing about all of this, is having no control of what is happening. We had to learn patience when we were going through the marriage process, but this!

Isabelle, Welcome! I hope our comments help you. It's just good to know that you're not alone, and others are going through the same thing. It's nice to be able to share news, comments, etc.

My daughter has just booked a trip back to Maroc for three weeks. She was worried about spending the money, especially if her husband got his visa soon, but as you know this separation is hard. I told her you only live once, and when she sees how happy everyone is to see her, she will forget about the money. She is lucky they are giving her time off from work. I just wish I was going with her! Abdel, I told her before about you having a honeymoon, and they are going to make this their honeymoon. They are going to Agadir, Essaouira, Marrakesh, and I told them to go to Rabat and check on their papers. lol

Well, I guess this is all for now. Abdel please let us know how things go. We will be anxiously waiting. Thanks to everyone for all your helpful comments. Maybe one day we will all meet. Wouldn't that be nice?

Beslama, Penny

Tracy:
I haven't seen you online so I sent you an offline message on Sunday but I've noooo idea if you received it.
So at the risk of repeating myself, thank you very very much for offering to share your experience with me. I truly appreciate it.
I tried sending this to your hotmail address but it's been rejected....so maybe this is why I haven't seen you online. :)
Did you do all of the paper work once you were in Morocco? I'm just wondering if I can get any of it done here in Canada to try to limit the running around once I'm there. Everyone keeps telling us to prepare bribe money...this worries me a bit since...well for 1 it's illegal but it's also not permitted, and we want to do this right...was it your experience that you had to bribe?
Another question is would your husband be willing to speak with my fiance? He is pretty lost and worried right now. :) I hope it is not too much to ask.
Thank you again and again and again.....and again!

I hope you are all reunited with your loved ones very soon, the distance is so difficult, I would be lost without MSN and webcams.

Cindy i got married last year in morocco and i can say my exprerience with bribes was new because yes canada dont do this but morocco lol well its part of avryday life even for gething jobs they pay to get it ...

and going back this year...
dont worry its a great country just falow the laws of the country and u will be fine also remind your fiancee to register you when you get in the country right away with the police if you will ve staying in his house and not hotels

Hello Everyone and welcome to the forum Isabelle;

I have great news as well, my husband just recieved word today from the embassy and is scheduled for an interveiw next week (May 31) in Rabat. I didn't expect to hear until mid June - so am incredibly happy to hear it is so soon. One step closer - what a good feeling!

Abdellatif - good luck next week - I'm not sure if you saw the website I posted with typical interview questions - I hope it might be helpful for you. I will be eager to know how your interveiw goes as my husband's is only 3 days after yours.

Cindy - we didn't need to bribe anyone (although we could have). In the end we did recieve some help from a policeman who helped get our papers signed but he would refuse to take money (as a thank you). He's become a friend of ours since then. If you have enough time to get the paperwork completed, you shouldn't have to bribe anyone. Your husband will know when it's good to do this or not - he knows the ways of Morocco, I'm sure. You will be interviewed by the police and by a judge. I can let you know more about what you should and shouldn't say (never say you have consummated your relationship before marriage no matter what you do).

Penny - has your son-in-law had any more news regarding his application? I think my husband's application is being processed at a similar time...

All for now,

Tracy

HI TRACY I AGREE WITH YOU CINDY NEVER SAY YOU HAVE SLEPT WITH YOUR MAN BEFORE MARRIGE
IF YOU WILL OR NO THAT IS NOT OUR BUSNISS BUT JUST TELL THEM NO WE SLEEP IN SEPERATE ROOMS.
THIS THEY WILL ASK JUST SAY NO
AND ALL IS OK

MY HUSBAND AND I WHERE ASKED THIS AND I SAID I WAS MUSLIM AND WE SLEEP IN SEPERATE ROOMS
FOR BRIBES AS I SAID I WAS JUST ASKED TWICE AND WE HAD PLENTY OF TIME AND ALL PAPERS WHERE ABOUT DONE ITS JUST SOME PEOPLE WANT TO PROFIT FROM OTHERS THIS IS WHAT HAPEND TO ME THEY SAID GIVE ME MONEY FOR OUR TRABOULS
OR WE WONT GIVE THE PAPERS U NEED
BUT IT WONT ALWAYS HAPEN THIS LIKE TRACY SAID IT DEPENDS ON THE TIME AND PLACE

Thankyou for your nice words. My daughter sent in all the papers, my son-in-laws and her own, at the end of February. On March 23rd. my daughter was told that the sponsorship had been approved and the papers were on their way to Morocco. Shortly after, my son-in-law got a letter from Rabat saying that they had started processing the papers on April 2nd. It sounds like everyone of you sent in your papers around the same time. I'm hoping that my son-in-law gets an interview time soon.

Tracy, when did you send in your papers, and when did they start processing them in Rabat? Congrats by the way! Terrific news!
My daughter is going back to Maroc at the end of June for three weeks. I told her that they should both go to Rabat, if he hadn't heard anything by then. Maybe if they see she has returned, they might give him his Visa, and he can come back with her? Am I being too optimistic?

This is so good having you all to talk to. It sure helps knowing that there are others going through this.
I am going to email my son, and tell him your great news Tracy. The news from Abdel and now you will cheer him up.

Shokran to all.

Salaam Alekum,

Cindy - I just read where you asked about starting the paperwork before you go to Maroc. Definitely! It will save a lot of time. If your fiance has access to a computer he should start his papers as well. These are all on the CIC website. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/applications
You will have enough to do when you get there. If possible, I would have your fiance get a medical as well. Be sure to ask for the paperwork from the doctor, and tell him what it is for. It is a special form he has to fill out and sign. Did you know you have to get a police check here in Canada, a letter from your employer, etc. All of the necessary information, as I'm sure you know is on the CIC website. Good luck!

Yasmina - Where do you live?

Abdel - Best of luck tomorrow! I will be praying for you! Don't worry, things will be fine.

Beslama,
Penny

Salaam,
I just thought you'd all get a laugh out of this.
I am hoping that my son-in-law gets his visa soon because if he comes to Winnipeg in winter he might want to turn around and go back to Maroc! Brrrrrr! Ha-ha!

I wonder how Abdel is doing? I've been thinking of him all morning, as I'm sure all of us have.

Cindy, I just thought of something. Make sure you get your fiance to fill out all the papers while you are there, and bring them back with you. My daughter sent both hers and his papers, so Mississauga forwarded them to Maroc as soon as they finished with her sponsorship papers here. If I think of anything else. I will write again.

All the best to everyone,
Penny (Lady Penny)

Everyone I'm so excited! My daughter just phoned me and told me that my son-in-law got his interview time. June 5th! I phoned him on Skype and congratulated him, and of course he asked me to pray for him. Such wonderful news! Finally! Do you guys know about Skype? Cheap phone rates to Maroc. 40 cents a minute from here.
Wouldn't it be funny if they all came on the same plane?
Anyone heard from Abdel?
- Penny
