Hello everyone,

I am a Canadian citizen presently residing and working in the USA. I am considering bringing my parents to the USA as visitors (B1/B2 visas recently approved) and also plan to take them on a two-week-long trip to Canada. Currently, I am in the process of applying for a Canadian Visitor visa for my parents through the new IRCC portal, and I have a couple of questions that I need clarification on before submitting the application.

Regarding the question asking why a visa is needed, should I select 'To visit family members (non-super visa)' or 'To visit as a tourist' as I am not currently residing in Canada? Although, I do own property there and am a Canadian citizen.

If the recommendation is to 'visit family members (non-super visa)', would it be acceptable to mention in the invitation letter that I am currently living and working in the USA?

Additionally, since I will be covering all of my parent's travel expenses, would it be acceptable to demonstrate the funds from a US bank?

I would greatly appreciate your response.

Thank you!

To visit as a tourist or To visit family members (non-super visa) doesnt matter but you need to provide relevant information.
Like
if you choose tourist, what is their touristic travel history? why canada?
if you choose family, who are the going to meet? what that person does? what was last time they met? what they want to achieve from meeting?

What really matter is their ties to home country and their financials.
You need to address 3 things
- Purpose (either tourism or family visit)
- ties to home country (family, business/job, assets etc)
- financial (can they afford the trip? what %age of savings they will use for this trip? are the exhausting their whole savings on this trip? does this trip make sense?
I hope this will help.
Good luck
