Sponsoring an older spouse/ partner

Hello all

I'm a permanent resident of Canada and a U.S. citizen. My partner is a U.S. citizen who still lives in the U.S. but visits me here. If we were to marry, would I be able to sponsor him to come to live in Canada or would his age ( he is 71 and healthy) disqualify him? I more than meet the income requirements for sponsorship and plan to get my Canadian citizenship within five years. Thanks.

There is no income requirement for sponsorship and yes you can sponsor him. How did you receive PR?

I've been a PR for decades but never applied for citizenship while taking care of my very ill spouse for more than 25 years ( he died a few years ago). Now it's my number one goal.

So yes you can sponsor if you get remarried or are common law.
