Hello! My sister (citizen) and I (PR) want to submit an application for a visitor visa for a family friend, from South America, who took care of our grandmother and mother for many years, as well as the house and myself when I was born. Now, we would like her to come visit us for a month and know Canada, so we want to pay for her flight and all expenses while she visits. What should I put in "FUNDS AVAILABLE FOR MY STAY" section of form IM5257? Would it be ok to put the money available that we (my sister and I) would be providing for her flight and stay, even though it is Not in her bank statements, and add the explanation in the Invitation letters as well as in the first page of her bank statements?
Thanks in advance for your attention to this and any feedback here! I know it is a tricky situation but we are willing to explain it all in the invitation letters that would be signed by my sister, her family, myself and my partner. This, as well as explaining that she has reasons to return back to her country (grandmother of 2 kids + job).
Kind regards,
Nessa

there is a box to tick asking if someone else other than the applicant is paying for the trip. right before the available funds section? i think? you should tick that box and provide more info in the invitation letter. however, the issuance of the visitor visa will depend on her own ties to the home country.

Hello @Ansionuk , thanks for your reply! Do you mean this question: "Do you depend on someone for financial support?" ? I thought that was related to day-to-day expenses in her country, not to the trip in particular. Am I mistaken?

no, there is a question asking "Is someone else giving you money for your stay in Canada?" in portal. can't remember if they asked the same thing on the form required by GCkey account. I think the question you mentioned is in the questionnaire, so you are applying through GCkey account not portal. In that case, I believe you will just need to upload an extra explanation letter in the proof of funds section with evidence showing your ability to pay for her trip.

Yes, I'm applying for her through the GCkey account. So, in "Funds available for my stay", I should put the amount of money my sister and I are willing to provide for her time in Canada and explain that in the invitation letter?

Yes, put the amount needed for her stay in that field on the form. then, 1. upload explanation letter of why you are paying and evidence of your ability to pay together in the Proof of Means of Financial Support slot.(if she has US visa and you don't see this button, upload these documents in the optional documents section). 2. upload invitation letter in the invitation letter slot.
