Hi I would like to sponsor both of my parents but I have some questions with regards to the application. My Dad and mom were divorced and my mom got remarried. I was hoping to sponsor only my dad and my mom, not her partner. Is that possible or do I have to sponsor her partner as well?

You can sponsor your dad and your mom on 2 different sponsorship applications. i.e. they are both principle applicants.
If you decided to sponsor your mom, you HAVE to include her spouse in the calculation of the family size. Her spouse will needed to pass medical and police check. But he can be listed as non-accompanying. I do not know how the 20 years under taking will be in effect if your mom decided to sponsor him later on.

So on the family size part, would they both be the same on both application. For example, me, my mom and my dad, so 3 people total? Or do I have to include my mom partner as well.

You have to include him for the "size". The family size calculation includes non-accompanying spouse and dependents.

Just to clarified, your mom is remarried to your step-dad, correct? (your post said WAS and used the term partner so I am not sure of her current martial status)
That's her current husband and her husband needs to be included in the calculation.

You will also be responsible for him for 20 years and nothing you can do to stop him coming to Canada. It is up to your mother. Would also speak to your mother about listing your stepdad as non-accompanying. Did you apply to PGP2019? Did you apply for them as a unit or separately?

They are married. (my stepdad and my mom)

I am also in the midst of filling out the PGP2019. So if I listed my stepdad as non-accompanying, does that mean I am responsible for him when he comes here? Or would that responsibility falls to my mom?

So that means, in addition to sponsor my dad and my mom for 20 years, I also have to be responsible for my stepdad as well. Really need to think this over....

However, if he decides to come here. Either my mom or I have to submit a sponsorship request. (Spousal or parent) I thought if my mom decided to sponsor him later, then she would be responsible for him.

Your mom cannot sponsor him while she herself is the subject of an undertaking of support, I believe.

If he is listed as non-accompanying, he doesn't immigrate and you have no undertaking for him.

If he is non-accompanying and your mother then sponsors him, yes, the undertaking will be hers. However, that means she is responsible for any welfare he takes and since he can't receive welfare without her also receiving it, you would still be on the hook for it.

Did you submit 2 applications or one sponsorship? Was under the impression you needed 2 EOIs if parents are divorced and they will be 2 separate applications. Can anyone clarify for me.

Only need one invitation to sponsor parents separately.
