Sponsoring a minor relative to Canada

Good Afternoon, All.
I would like to acquire if it is possible to bring a minor (18 years old) brother to Canada as a part of Family Class Sponsorship program. He will be turning 19 in September. Would it be easier (or possible) to apply for Sponsorship if he is a minor or is it better when he is over the age of 19?
When I was going through PR application myself, I did not claim any dependents, because technically, he is not my dependent. I do have sufficient income to sponsor him, however I am pretty sure it is not the only obstacle I might face.
We never thought of Canada as his destination, but teenagers change their minds pretty quick :)
Any help will be appreciated.

You most likely cannot sponsor him. And you're right - he's definitely not a dependent.

Do you have a spouse / common law partner? Children? Are one or both of your parents still alive? Do you have any other family in Canada (e.g. aunt, uncle)?

If the answers to even one of these questions is yes, you cannot sponsor your brother. He will have to qualify and apply on his own - just like you did.

Thank you, scylla, you always provide very insightful answers. Even in the event I was qualifying to sponsor him, the process is very long. It would be more beneficial for him to go through skilled immigration in case he wants to immigrate.
I saw similar posts around, however I thought the fact he is a minor might imply a different process.

So If the Sponsor is unmarried but their brother or sister wants to immigrate would they still be able to sponsor them ?

Only if they are:

- unmarried and not living with someone in a common law relationship
- have no children
- both parents are deceased
- have no family in Canada (i.e. no aunts, uncles, other siblings, etc.)
