Sponsored Spouse Questionnaire

Hi, I am American living as visitor with my husband in Canada, filing outland PR application. On the Sponsored Spouse Questionnaire (Form IMM 5490), they ask about living arrangements. If my husband and I have ever lived together, if we are currently living together and if not who am I living with. Since I am filing outland and just "visiting" him, should I say no we are not living together and put my American address?

For all the other forms for residency I put an American address for my residential address so I am wondering if I should use that one here?

Say you are living with your husband in Canada, where you are a visitor. You can attach a separate sheet to explain more fully. That is, that you are visiting Canada while the application is being processed, you hope to stay until it is done by extending your stay, you have been here as a visitor since ----, living with your husband at his home at ----. You can say that you also have a home in the USA, which you have listed as your residential address on the other forms. (Actually, lots of forum members would have listed the Canadian address as the residential one, though really either is fine.)

Actually living together is very good proof the relationship is genuine. In addition, if you say you have not lived together, this is going to confuse the appeal judge if it goes to that. It is better to just look at your situation as a normal person would. Are you living with your spouse? If yes, say yes. You can then explain that you are visiting Canada, but the visit is expected to be long-term.

I'm having the same problem! I would consider myself to be living with my husband, but legally I am a visitor. Basically, I'm here for 2-3 months at a time, and then I pop back down to the states for a week or two. This has been going on for about 8 months. We were married about 4 months ago. Do I count the whole last 8 months as us "living together"?

It's so confusing, because the goal of the Spouse Questionnaire is to make sure that your relationship is legit, but every time I cross the border, I have to assure them that I'm going back to the United States. In fact, I was stopped by immigration the last time through, and I didn't even mention that we are about to file a PR application because I was afraid they would not let me in, thinking that I would overstay my allowed visiting time.
