The question asks if close friends and family knew about the relationship. For us it is a half-truth. My partner's friends in Korea did know about us, but because we are gay we hid it from his hardcore Christian parents. They still don't know about us getting married.

How do we answer this question? Do we check 'yes' because his friends did know, or do we check 'no' and explain that his friends knew but that his parents don't?

and than write a little note with it
to explain why the friends knew and why the parents didnt know
so there is no confusion for the officer processing your application
