Hi can anyone please answer my question.

I am sponsoring my wife to Canada, and she doesn't know English at all. Can I help her fill out the forms 5490 or she needs to get another interpreter which is not a family member? The reason why I came up with this question is because on the last page of the form 5490, the interpreter must sign at the bottom of the page. So If I am allowed to help her, then I must sign there right.. thanks..

I wonder if the translated document would need to be notarized. if so, would the interpreter [you] need some sort of certification??

Otherwise, you could write anything and the notary would have no idea what you were translating.

Do I need to bring all the forms for my wife's part to a notary public to do it?.. or I can fill out the forms for her?

Before your do ANYTHING, wait for someone that has much more knowledge on this subject than I do to respond.

I recall reading [somewhere] that translated documents need to be notarized, but it would seem to me that the interpreter would need to be qualified...but
I'm not certain about that part.

Sit tight. Your `call' will be answered by the next available representative that will hopefully know for sure. :)
