Yes that would be part of the proof needed but examples of giving notice to jobs in your wife’s home country or giving notice to leave a rental in addition to proof you are looking for a jobs or a rental in Canada would be much better. Records of searching for rentals or looking for jobs in Canada would be easy to submit even if you had no intention of remaining in Canada. I would suggest reading through previous posts about proof requirements over the past few years. There are examples of what people submitted, whether they were asked for more proof, etc.
I agree that all of these things would be better but some are, for obvious reasons (incl money), difficult or unrealistic for many to provide.
So three main messages:
-absolutely MUST take this seriously and do the best you can when applying to show intent to return.
-but, the perfect is the enemy of the good:
don't delay for too long applying in pursuit of the perfect file. Check the other threads and do the best you can. If there are things you can't do (like quit your job), a short letter of explanation can make sense.
-KEY: recently, with perhaps some exceptions, IRCC almost certainly
will request more information and evidence of intent to return. Be prepared and don't take it personally. Be prepared by continuing to collect evidence in support of your case. Just take an hour or so a week to look into things and show additional evidence.
