Hi All
I am a Canadien and my wife is PR. Her parents got her 2 months ago as visitor visa. We just got a baby girl (only 2 months) and my wife passed away. Her parents does not want to go back because of our daughter. I'm glad they help me a lot during this difficult time. can I sponsor them as PR given this difficult situation ?

Look at my timeline status on the right side you can tell how difficult it is :( :(

Unfortunately, you are unable to sponsor her parents for PR through parent sponsorship (which is closed right now anyway).

I would suggest they investigate ways to immigrate independently.

I`m sorry about your wife.
You won`t be able to sponsor your in-laws, but they can stay for as long as possible on their visitor visas. They could then try extending the visas.

I'm almost positive they would allow them to extend visitor visa's time due to the hardships.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Check with MP and some immigration lawyer. You may be able to sponsor your in-laws for PR under H&C grounds.

Sorry about your loss and good luck with the application. In reality, this is a tough category, although they can be sympathetic to your situation, H&C grounds is very tough. Kindly inquire with at least 2-3 specialized lawyers about this and go from there
Please note that your in-laws need to be living here till they give an answer, and that means they need to extend their visas ( it won't be wise to give reasons for application as they might refuse it ), and extending upto that long is extremely difficult, so in other words - they might have to risk living w/o a visa and future repercussions if H&C is refused. Add to that any health insurance etc
In my opinion, hire a nanny and apply for in-laws supervisa and start their sponsorship when it starts in 2015. This was they can keep visiting for 2 year period/extend./leave, come back after some time

Who knows what the future holds, sorry for laying the bitter facts but better to prepare then go my instinct and this H&C ground is not that easy

I'm guessing you're are referring to parent sponsorship, which is actually re-opening in January 2014. As stated by several others above, the OP cannot sponsor his in-laws.

Very sorry for your situation and I do hope you find a solution. That being said, having her parents apply for H&C PR probably has little chance of approval. You being a single father or them being separated from their grandchild are not H&C grounds.

Have u thought about the visa humanitarian? Maybe there are some excepcions when is not your direct family? Are the parents the only family left in your wifes family?? I'm not a lawyer or immigration consultant, but I think there is different option due to different cases in immigration. I never thought I would make it to canada, I didn't even thought about the possibility of same sex couples sponsoring one another.. And here I am. Talk to a lawyer.

Good luck!

H&C grounds are actually very limited. What they consider to fall under H&C is not much when you look at it.
