We did it on May as well. Sponsor eligibility we received in September. Applicant eligibility / Background check was received in November 1. Ours is Outland.
It's not easy to say a general timeline because, quite frankly, it depends on many things. It depends on whether it's a routine or non-routine sponsorship, if it's from a country that doesn't require visa (for example my spouse is in the US, she's a US citizen, and I'm a Canadian citizen - but also a US citizen). There is a lot of defrauding happening within the system recently, and I've seen that they're (finally, thank God) getting stricter and putting a lot of focus on making sure things are legit.
It also depends on the length of the relationship, proof, the officer, your eligibility and background (if you owe anything to the government, your job, etc.), and many other things. Is it inland, outland, Quebec, not Quebec, etc. Not every case is the same.
Quebec for example just announced a pause to permanent residence.
So even though we started in the first week of May, and from what you say you started in May, the experiences will likely be different. I've seen other people from May (Outland) get PR much sooner, the earliest one I saw was July? So your mileage may vary.
