She can invite you but there are no guarantees that the visa application gets approved.

You start looking here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.asp for an immigration class you could qualify under.
If you have 2 friends in Manitoba, they can sponsor you under the Provincial nominee program there but as far as I know, that is the only instance where a friend can sponsor for immigration.
Of course it would be possible if your friend can get you a job offer that you can immigrate on the basis of that.

A short summary: A friend can "sponsor" you to immigrate to Manitoba if the friend is a PR or citizen, has been living in Manitoba for at least 1 year and does not have another open sponsorship at this time as well as persons they previously sponsored have stayed in Manitoba.
However, the sponsorship does not guarantee your immigration. You still have to qualify under the points system according to the self assessment work sheet which takes into account your knowledge of English, your education, age and other factors. You do get 10 points for having a friend sponsor.
