Hey guys hope this messages finds you well.
I am in the process of PR and its at Backdrop check in process.
in my country, cursing and swearing is considered a crime and said bad words to girl and she filed a case against me.
the judge sentenced me to a fine and suspended imprisonment two months (Two months without jail time was on probation only )
you think guys this problem will effect on my PR and cause an issue?

thanks.

Depends what crime you were charged with.

But there is generally a requirement that the crimes you are charged with
have an equivalent in Canada. Unless this was charged as some much higher crime (like assault), and the court record shows it was for swearing, you shojldn't have an issue.

It may take a bit longer for IRCC to confirm this is not an issue htough.

Generally agree, as per usual, however...

If the swearing was along the lines of "I will f' ing kill you", that could be a crime in Canada (uttering a threat).

[from the Google}:
Uttering threats refers to making statements expressing an intention to cause physical harm or death to someone, damaging their property, or injuring an individual’s animal or bird. Uttering threats is covered under s.264.1 of the Criminal Code.

True. But the operative / substantive part of that crime in your example is not f'ing*, but 'kill.'

*That would be charged under 'uttering prurient euphemisms.'

I only included that censored expletive in my example, because the OP stated that they had been cursing and swearing, which led to the charges and conviction.

No worries, just kidding (my joke was the euphemisms are not swearing). And yes, I agree - that's why I tired to hedge a bit about specific circumstances and what the court record says and the actual charges.

If the court or the charge were to have shown it was uttering threats - indeed, a different issue and a more serious problem.
