Hello everybody! I hope you're having a wonderful day!!

I'll dive right on in...
The love of my life is a resident and student in Canada, BC. She currently has a few more years of school and I am currently finishing up school from the USA (will be finished come december.)
I am a broadcasting (mass communications) major and plan to further my career in this field after school ends.
I am currently looking at several canadian job searches that would allow me to work in some sort of broadcasting TV station, movie editing, solo work, and or radio broadcasting. I'm not picky I just need some work to hold me over while I am in Canada to cover rent etc.
My question is...
How likely would it be for me to get a visitor pass to come stay in Canada for a few years, work, be with the love of my life and then after she finishes school simply move back to America and go from there.
I have no dire plans to become a permanent resident of Canada and I do plan to leave after my girlfriend finishes school.

What do you guys think about this? Do I have any actual chance of completing this? I have submitted a form already to see if i qualify for a "green card" in Canada.
If there are any tips or concerns just let me know please!
Thanks!

1. Sorry to burst your bubble, but your plan really doesn't have much chance of working.
2. To work in Canada you need a work permit, and employer would to apply to HRSDC after advertising the position for 2 weeks on the job bank. Then they have to demonstrate that there are no Canadians/Permanent residents available for the position and that you are the most qualified. As you basically have no experience, it is unlikely to be approved.
3. You probably could visit Canada for up to 6 months initially, but could not work and would have to demonstrate sufficient funds to maintain yourself.

But to get a work permit i simply need a job that has promised me a position at their company?
Then would it work out just fine?
I'm certain I could find some sort of job to stick with for a bit.

ALthough worst case scenario would be me staying there for 6 months... no pay x.x

PMM is bang on as always. Your only real option is to find an employer in Canada who's willing to go through the lengthly process of hiring you. However I agree this is going to be difficult given your major and lack of experience. (Doesn't mean you can't try.)

To add one more thing... You mentioned that you submitted some kind of form to see if you qualify for permanent residency in Canada. Sounds like this must have been through an immigration consultant's site. If this immigration consultant comes back to you and tells you that he can help you get what you want (for a fee), run the other way.

thank you very much i'll keep that noted.

Is it really that difficult for employers to hire someone out of country? at least for canada?
Out of curiosity do they get any sort of benefits?

Unfortunately it's not as simple as finding an employer willing to hire you. Once you find an employer, that employer must first advertise your job and try to find a Canadian who can do the role or be trained to do the role. If the employer isn't able to find anyone Canadian capable of doing the job, they must file paperwork with Human Resources Canada asking permission to hire you because you have specialized and/or rare capabilities or experience that they cannot find in a Canadian candidate. If HRDC approves (not all requests are approved), you can then take the job. The first challenge you'll encounter is that many/most employers aren't even willing to look at non-Canadian candidates since the process of hiring one takes so much time and involves so much paperwork. Again, doesn't mean it can't be done. But it won't be easy.
