Proportional refunds are available but they are subject to the terms and conditions of the policy. Some policies will not refund any amount if a claim has been filled regardless if it was paid or declined. Some of the companies that use Manulife as an insurer have this in their policies. There is usually a nominal administration fee and some policies will not refund if there is a nominal amount days left on the policy like 30 days. Finally you need to provide proof that the insured returned to their counry of origin. You really need to look at the policy and understand all the terms and conditions.
GMS Insurance just launched their new Super Visa travel policy it is unique because it provides one year coverage and allows multiple entries without of having to apply for insurance for each visit. However there is a downside to this insurance policy for example: if you only spend 7 month in Canada and the other 5 month in your country of origin, where no coverage is provided for, you would of paid a large premium for this convenience. GMS Insurance provides continues coverage for one year but will not refund any amount regardless of how much of the actual coverage was used. There is going to be a lot of agents selling this product but it is only attractive for certain situations not everyone.
