Dear all,

Has anyone contacted this number, 1-888-242-2100, to speak directly with an IRCC agent about why the spousal open work permit application is taking so long?
Did it have a positive or negative impact on the application?
Can we get a more informative response about the delay from an agent compared to submitting a webform?

My study permit application was approved 4 months ago but my wife’ OWP application is now still in processing although I submit her application at the same time with mine.
I also submitted several webforms but no luck.

I am a graduate student, and we applied together from the Philippines. Do you know if anyone in this forum receive a visa for their spouse after waiting more than 7 months?

please note that I dont receive any additional request from IRCC which may cause the delay.

So you showed the tuition plus $26k. Call IRCC (if you are the representative) and ask about status.

After receiving the GCMS notes, I found no important information inside, so I resent a webform inquiry about 15 days ago. They replied automatically that they received my inquiry 10 days ago, but I haven’t received any updates since then.

Should I call IRCC now, or should I wait a little longer and how long should i wait to expect a response in this case? What should I ask them during the call to get useful information without annoying them too much?

Additionally, I heard that contacting a Member of Parliament (MP) can also be a good way to reach IRCC. Do you think I should contact MP for help if the call to IRCC doesn’t help? Is that the responsibility of MP to support me in this case since I am a student in Canada asking to support my wife’s OWP application from outside canada.

Any response will be highly appreciated.

You can call IRCC but you talk to call centre agents. They can say where your file is in the process and send a note to officers to review file. You can contact your MP who respresents constituents. They may or may not help. They cannot expedite file but can ask for status report.

Still not been approved yet after calling IRCC many times and asking MP for help. They did not give any insightful info.
Can you advise what I should do next?

If you haven’t come to Canada to study, and it is important to your career then come. Nothing you can do. You can always withdraw and reapply. What is the school? DId you meet proof of funds.

I have been currently in Canada several months as a master student but my family has been still in home country. Separation is really frustrating.
I strongly believe that there is no problem with proof of funds.
If we reapply for a opw application with no change since the previous application, is there a risk facing a same problem?

Did you order GCMS notes? What school - public or private? How much did you show in cash?

I requested my GCMS notes 4 months ago, but there were only automatically generated notes without any information made by officer. My school is a public one listed on the DLI list, and I have proof of funds exceeding $100k. Tuition fees have been paid separately.
