I did write through the webform. Received a reply on October 21. No specifics regarding the timeline:

Why they said it’s still in process? Don’t you have a DM2 on ecas? I understood that you sent the passport and it was returned to you....

Yep, the same. Received a letter along with all the documents that were sent to Ottawa.

The letter says: "The following is in reference to your application for permanent residence

Please note that we are returning your original documents without a Confirmation of Permanent Residence or permanent resident visa being issued. We want to assure you that this does not affect the decision of your application

A visa office will contact you with Information on confirming your status as a permanent resident

Visit our website often to get the most up-to-datus information on how the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is affecting immigration... " Bla bla bla.
I had fwded this letter to my MP's office to see if anything can be done from their end in this scenario.

Today I received a call from MP's office. She was also amazed to see how helpful the letter is!! ;)
She spoke to IRCC and came back with the same answer, CoPR in our scenario won't help but we are in the queue for virtual landing. No definite timeline can be furnished at the moment, so we just have to wait.

We received passport back today with no visa or COPR. We also had the same letter the everyone got. Please note that we are returning your original documents without confirmation of permanent residence......etc..
My wife's visitor status expires on January 10th. Any idea about the best time to apply for an extension?

By Status Expire, you mean the actual counterfoil expiration date or the Stamp made by the CBSA officer at the airport?
Normally you can apply 30 days before the status Expiry date.

She doesn't have a stamp or a visa on her passport because she is a US citizen. My understanding is that I should calculate 6 months from the day she entered Canada and that would be the expiry date of her status..but not sure?

Yes my friend that's correct. 6 months from the date of entry is the expiration of status. just apply 30 days before the expiration. Hope this helps.

I am wondering..so my original visa office is waiting for the passport but I ended up sending it to Ottawa as per instructions in the letter. Is there a way for my visa office to know that I sent it to Ottawa ? I am concerned that the might think I am late submitting it
