Hello,

I have changed my way to apply to outland and currently i am filling out the statutory decleration of common law union form (5409). On the bottom of the sheet the SOLEMN DECLARATION part is asking someone to do the decleration? Who would this be?

Is that the part where it says - DO NOT FILL IN NOW?

Oh, I thought of a different form. This is one I didn't fill in, but it looks like something you fill in and sign in front of notary public or some similar office. I hope some senior member of forum will correct me if I'm wrong...

For IMM 5409 Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union, you need to sign the form in front of a Commissioner of Oaths.

I believe each Canadian province keeps their own list of commissioner of oaths, and they are generally very easy to find, like at the local city hall. Just Google "Commissioner of Oaths" for your city and you'll find a place to start.

If you are not in Canada, then I suggest you contact the Canadian consulate in your country to see what is acceptable (public notary, possibly).

The Stat Dec of Common-Law Union is NOT a required form. It is only needed when there is a co-signer, which isn't possible when sponsoring a partner.

Hi Guys - Has anyone applied for solemn declaration for the PR card which was never received? If yes, Can you please share your timelines?
