I will be going in next week to an interview to finalize my PR. In the email I received it says to bring my SIN card that begins with 9....My card is from the states....and doesn't begin with "9".....did they word this wrong? Perhaps they mean that they will give me a new SIN that begins with 9?

Also I'm the one being sponsored...does my hubby need to bring 2 pics as the sponsor or is it just for me? It also states that I should bring my receipt for the Right of PR which I paid at the beginning of the process....Do I need to bring anything else they aren't stating? Like my visitors record?

Thank you my fellow PR's!

Weird. I would just bring whatever you have. I had a SIN card that had an expiry date (those begin with a 9) because I was on a work permit in Canada. Maybe they meant that you should bring that if you have one. I brought mine to the CIC office after landing to make sure it would be linked to my new SIN.

The 2 pics are for the PR card so it's for the sponsored person.

I would just bring photo identification, the receipt, the 2 pics, maybe your SSN if you have it. If you've already given them everything like visitors records or whatever, you shouldn't need anything else.

I am the sponsor and I was asked for my citizenship certificate at the landing interview, even though it wasn't stated in the letter. You never know what else they might request. Make sure that the sponsor has some kind of ID, and you need to bring proof of address. So if you both have a driver's licence with the same address that will be enough.

So my hubby should bring his birth certificate? And I have some medical bill receipts with my name and address....is that good enough?

Thanks for the advice! I know they say to only bring certain things they request but from what I've seen they always expect you to bring more than that...

I just saw on the CIC site it reads :

Temporary residents

You must provide one of the following primary documents:

Work permit issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).

Study permit issued by CIC. International students must present either:

a study permit that indicates the permit holder “may accept employment” or “may work” in Canada; or
a study permit and a “confirmation to work off campus” letter issued by CIC prior to February 6, 2015.
If neither of these requirements is met, you may contact CIC to verify if you are eligible to apply for an amended study permit.

Visitor record issued by CIC, indicating you are authorized to work in Canada. I have this...but I am not authorized to work

Diplomatic identity card and a note of permission of employment issued by Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada.

Important note for temporary residents: You will receive a letter confirming that you have been issued a temporary SIN. The SIN will begin with the number "9". Your SIN expires on the date indicated in the “expires on” field of the letter. This expiry date is based on the CIC document that authorizes you to work in Canada.

I assume it will be okay.... :-X....I have a visitors record but it does say I am not permitted to work...cause if I was I would have a temporary SIN...it also states in the email that for my convenience Service Canada may be there at the interview to assist with obtaining a new SIN.... ???

Did you not apply for an open work permit as part of your inland application?

No, you're fine -- you simply don't have a Social Insurance Number.

Most (probably even the vast majority) of inland applicants apply for an open work permit after stage-1 approval. Then in order to actually work they need a SIN, and since their status is temporary Service Canada issues them a temporary number, always beginning with "9".

Once the immigrant lands, that social insurance number needs to be reissued as a permanent, not-starting-with-9 number. The request to bring the existing SIN card/paperwork is to ensure that the new immigrant doesn't keep using the now-less-than-valid temporary number.

In your case, you get to ignore all this.
