Yes you can. I live in subsidized housing in Ontario and sponsored my husband and 2 daughters. They are here with me now.
Hi!
Do they already have their PR?
Do you remember how long it took you to get a house?
Thanks in advice

Sponsoring your partner while living in housing and getting them to live with u in housing.
There's no special process. You do a regular spousal sponsorship application and add them to your lease when they arrive. He/she will be in the country with legal status, so there is no problem to add them to the lease.

Getting subsidized housing has more to do with whether you qualify and availability. In the GTA and Vancouver you will likely wait for many years before receiving subsidized housing. You also need to qualify. Disabled people, seniors, etc would qualify before 2 able-bodies adults.

As soon as he is living with you on a permanent basis you need to go and speak to someone in the subsidized housing office.

Did u marry your spouse b4 they became a permanent resident? My boyfriend wants to marry me but i think if he marrys me b4 he becomes a permanent resident id have to alert housing and than my rent would increase which doesnt seem fair since he doesnt live witb me. Am i wrong?

You only alert them once your partner is living with you. My husband was not living in Canada when we got married. I alerted housing when he arrived as a permanent resident and began residing together.

But wait doesnt housing check ur taxes and stuff? Cuz they do with mine. Wouldnt they see that ur no longer listed as single but as a married individual? Or did u wait till he was a permanent resident to change ur statuts from single to married for canada revenue/taxes?
