Hi All,

My company has applied for a skilled ICT for me & an open work permit for my wife. I just had some doubts before making my final decision on moving to Canada. My wife is already in some discussions with Canadian based IT firms based on her open work permit application which may be valid for 3 years ( as per my ICT duration if approved ) what happens if :

1. if my project in Canada ends before the schedule, does my wife also have to quit her job and go back with me ?
2. Can I switch employers on a skilled ICT just in case if my project ends ?
3. in how many years we can apply for a PR?

I would really appreciate if some one can shed some light on the queries, I would to relocate to Canada from Sweden but I have to go through pros & cons as my wife have to quit her Job here in Stockholm.

Thank you very much.

Cheers

1. She can remain in Canada and work as long as her work permit is valid.
2. You cannot work for a different employer on your ICT work permit. If you want to change to a different employer, that employer will need to obtain an approved LMIA and then you will have to apply for a closed work permit tied to that specific employer. Once the closed work permit is approved, you can switch to your new employer.
3. Depends when you qualify and which program you apply under. You'll need to research: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/apply.asp

I have applied for a Intra Company transfer and it is approved. My office is located in Toronto. But there was a plan to work from client location which is in Richmond, British Colombia. So I have applied ICT for BC, Canada. Now there are chances that I might work from my office location which is in Toronto. Am I allowed to work in Toronto? If yes, my port of entry can be Toronto? If No, what is the procedure to get it done.

Hello, My office gave me "Offer of Employment Number". I am now applying for my work permit. My question is can I apply for my spouse's open work permit and my child's student permit right now? Or I can apply after my work permit is approved and I land in Canada.

Hello Everyone,

I'm in a similar situation. But I did not apply for visa with my wife's application.
When can i start applying for open work permit
1. After her visa approval
OR
2. After she travels to Canada
