Hi i have seen and read advice and opinion about landing and yet still confused with how am i going to handle my situation. Hope i can get a piece of advice. it will help me a lot.
heres my case

heres my situation:

I got mine and my 4yrs old daughter's PR visa stamped and copr and the expiration date is Feb 21, 2016 issued at our local visa office in my home country. i already submitted my supporting docs before (6months pregnant) regarding my pregnancy. however i am nearing my 8month pregnancy and my due date is Dec. 24 and cant fly within 2mos to be able to land. May i know how am i going to get my new baby with me. what do i need to do?

1. do i need to land first and give birth in canada?
if i land first knowing that im a single parent with no one to help if i give birth i dont know how much wud it cost for giving birth via CS in calgary. whos gonna take care of my 4yrsold daughter while im in the hospital.

2. do i need to land first and go back to my home country to give birth and sponsor the baby after?

3. or if i give birth before landing, do we have to repeat everything and add my baby to my application? how bout proof of funds? is it fast?

I am hoping for your reply and thank you in advance. your thoughts will be a big help to me.

This option is costly

you can do that but they may not allow you to fly at 8 months pregnancy that too managing 4 yrs kid would be difficult

3. or if i give birth before landing, do we have to repeat everything and add my baby to my application? how bout proof of funds? is it fast?

A. if you give birth before landing which is likely in your case with months approaching and flight restrictions(hoping you r not in US where you can drive also) you may send an update to cic about family addition and they would reissue copr with new member and new date.I think you should be able to email them

B.Incase you didnt receive anything before feb16 or cic advised you to proceed with your original landing. you need to leave baby with someone and land with your 4 yr kid to complete formalilties even a week is more than enough for procedures.

If option A didnt work and you did landing using Option B Now to sponsor new baby you need to be present in canada leave baby in your home country for atleast a year then he/she wil get pr.proof of funds is not compulsory for sponsorship with regrds to infants or children. but you need to show you'll not go on welfare

1. Most airlines allow you to fly up to 36 weeks into the pregnancy but will require medical proof/ a medical certificate. Typically medical advice is not to have a flight of longer than 5 hours duration each sector for when you are this late into your pregnancy so try break up your journey if you choose this option. If you land in Calgary you will be covered under Alberta's Provincial Health Coverage scheme from day one of establishing residence usually landing date. So unlike say Ontario there isn't a 3 month waiting period for coverage. Alberta Health Services will cover all basic/routine costs of the delivery be this regular or CS (there are some charges say for private rooms etc). The challenge you have will be to get a doctor to provide the care until delivery date. You need to find a doctor accepting patients (its much easier nowadays than it used to be) and at that likely with links to a gynaecology/obstetrics practice. Self-choice CS births typically require bookings too so there may be no space available or more likely the Obstetrician may be fully booked.

The advantage of this is your newborn will be a Canadian Citizen but crucially you don't have to return your PR visas and add your child to the application if born outside Canada. The downside as you point out is having someone take care of your child while you are in hospital. You don't have much time to make child care arrangements and even then you need to know and trust the prospective carers. I don't want to get into your business but do you have your own family members that are able to travel to Canada and help you out with this? Note that normal deliveries will normally see you sent home within 24 hours and CS say 48-72 hours after birth if the baby is ok which means you may not require extensive or long term child care arrangements in the sense of not having your daughter with you at the hospital. This may be the deciding factor given the challenges that could arise with a birth outside Canada as per my further responses below.

Yes you can do this and sponsor the child as a member of the Family Class. As advised PRs are expected to reside in Canada throughout the sponsorship process. To prevent separation with your newborn you need to apply for a TRP at a Canadian visa post so that your baby can get temporary admission into Canada. This if your baby is not visit visor exempt to Canada. If the newborn is visit visa exempt to Canada then apply for an eTA and when you arrive at the border explain the baby is seeking admission for eventual sponsorship. The CBSA border agent will grant the baby a TRP. This will make eventual sponsorship much smoother. Your would then keep renewing the baby's temporary status until he/she was granted PR. Note that to sponsor you must be in compliance with the Residence Obligation (RO) all times throughout the process.

You need to send back the current PR Visas as they are no longer valid. You request the baby to be added to your application. You can be pro-active and fill out the relevant 'dependent child' forms and include this with supporting documents plus fees. Yes your funds requirement will change. The baby will need a medical and likely you and your daughter too as your current medicals valid for 12 months from when you had them may expire before the new born has medicals. Again you can be proactive and do upfront medicals for the new born if your visa post allows this. You will also go through fresh background/criminal/security checks. Babies don't have to undergo criminal checks, which is where most delays occur so the processing shouldn't be significantly longer. You may be extremely lucky and actually get new PR visas within 2-3 months of the birth.

The key factor to be aware which is an unfortunate one is that if the baby fails the medical then you can't be issued PR visas. The sad circumstances often for these cases is where the child has some developmental related long term/ life time problems at birth e.g autism. The immigration laws deem such an inadmissibility ground on the basis they will impose a burden on Canada's health system. This is the major downside to a birth outside Canada.

Good luck
