No free daycare but there are some programs based on income. The availability of these programs depends on the city where you live. There is often wait list for these programs because there is many people who could qualify but only so many spots. If you are counting on things like free childcare Canada may not be a good option. Even when your child is at school you will often have to pay for after school care and perhaps before school care if you work traditional hours. There are also school breaks and 2 months of summer vacation where you need to pay for childcare.
