Sorry guys I dont know how to quote your replies, so I am writing a new post here.

Thanks for your reply for GCMS note. Yes, I can see that $5 is much cheaper of course to $25 or $30 service, but will you get the same information ordering the $5? If anyone has already ordered the $5 service, do you mind sharing what information did you get? Thanks again.

The $5 is what the canadian government charges under the Access to Information Act.

Any service offering GCMS for $25, $30 or $40 is a scam and they are just taking your money.

You will get the exact same notes either way, but the more expensive third party website you order them through will pocket all your money minus the $5 it actually costs.

Keep in mind though, people who live outside Canada are not allowed to access their own file unless they appoint someone in Canada to obtain the information on their behalf. That's why these services exist and they get paid to process the paperwork and act on behalf of the foreigner living outside of Canada. Why would do they it for $5? Nothing is free and it is a time-consuming process my friend. People pay for the services and they are not dumb :) Shouldn't call this thing scam.

Their Canadian citizen or PR partner can order the notes for them with IMM5744 consent form- and do not need to be in Canada to do so.

The only time using one of these sites makes any sense is if the PA is applying for their own PR through an economic stream and they have absolutely no one in Canada or a citizen or PR they can order through.

For family class, it's a waste of money.

Family Class is only 20-30% of overall annual immigration quota. There is still a huge non-Family Class market for people to hire agencies to obtain GCMS on their behalf. Let alone temporary residence applications. Bottom line is things exist for a reason. The agencies are not non-profit charities and the people who decide to hire them already did their own research or simply have no time to invest in doing this on their own.

I'm aware of all of this, but being on the FC forum, my original advice was based on the fact OP had a sponsor ;)

"To send a request you must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada or an individual or corporation currently in Canada."

That quote threw me off which is why I ordered through a 3rd party service being outside Canada and reading some posters saying you have to be in Canada to order GCMS notes.

I'll try to order them now from Vietnam for $5.

htquach has ordered multiple times from Nam without issue.

Only need to be in Canada if you're not a PR or citizen.

It says I have to scan my passport and the consent form. Problem is where I am in Vietnam they don't have scanners just printers.

Will they take photographed documents?

Not sure.

I was never asked for Passport, just the form.

No scanner at a Internet cafe?

No internet cafe. Just a store that prints bulk documents and happens to have 2 computers for printing purposes. Might have to head into the city if they require scan. I'll try photograph and see what they say.

The 3rd service I used I gave them a photograph of the consent form.

Should be fine then.
