Congrats Islandguy2015!! Long wait over soon!!

Thank you HT It has been a long wait indeed! I wonder what the turn around period is for the Passport Request? And,the PO Box address might be the one they say to send it to? Not quite sure how that works. The last set of documents i sent to the PO Box,through Priority Worldwide, which is through Canada Post, was delivered,so i wonder what courier you would use in Thailand.

Imabule said EMS?

About a month.

EMS is good for sending docs, but I would go through VFS for Passport.

I wonder if VFS is more secure? VFS in Thailand only operates out of bangkok,my wife is along ways from there. Im not familiar on how VFS handles and receives Passports.

VFS is recommended

I'm having no luck with getting this linked. Who can I call to see what I'm doing wrong or why this won't link? Mississauga or Singapore?

Try 2. I have my wife and daughter but GCMS notes say 2 family member. Also input city of birth and leave passport blank.

I have tried every combination I can think of and always the same result. Thanks anyway.....

I used this one www.gcms4u.com. I think the GCMS services are all the same in terms of competency and wait time so just go with cheaper options that you can find. There are ones that are very expensive but there is nothing better.

I used visafile for my last GCMS. They were pretty fast. I submitted my request on June 21 and they e-mailed me my GCMS notes on July 22. So 31 days. They send you an e-mail that they will have it within 45 days and not to contact them before 45 days.

I might try to order my next GCMS notes on my own. It's $5 but if you are going to order every month or 2 that's saving $20/order which can add up to a savings of over $100.

Order on your own and save the $$$. Straightforward and takes about 5 minutes.

Thanks imabule. I did receive my passport letter today, and yes they recommend VFS,and i understand how it works now.

But,in this letter it says to submit 2 photographs, specific to Permanent Residents. My wife sent in her updated forms, and with them she included 5 photographs specific to Permanent Residents, just earlier this month.

Why are they asking for more photographs? I'm thinking they already have what they need? So confusing!

The two photos they request for PPR I believe are for the PR card. They always request the two photos when they request the passport.

As for the other ones your wife submitted, I think they will ask for those in the generic email requesting new forms etc. The photos are only valid for 6 months so that is why she was asked for new ones along with the docs.

As for why they can't use 2 of those 5 for the PR card.. I dunno.

Thanks imabule, the 5 photographs we just sent them, were taken in june,so i think they can use them. I have sent an email to SVO for confirmation on that.Hopefully they will respond.

I didn't even know there were third-party services doing this. The process is really quick and it's only $5. This Youtube tutorial is a bit outdated, but it hasn't changed much: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_E_dq_uLVo

Seriously - save your money.

Sorry guys I dont know how to quote your replies, so I am writing a new post here.

Thanks for your reply for GCMS note. Yes, I can see that $5 is much cheaper of course to $25 or $30 service, but will you get the same information ordering the $5? If anyone has already ordered the $5 service, do you mind sharing what information did you get? Thanks again.
