One of my friend told me that his cousin's wife got interview letter in May. Last week they got another letter with interview date, which is in December, but he couldn't tell me the exact date. good luck to everyone who is still waiting.

In their May interview letter, was there any timeline stated as to how long the interview wait would be?

Shafin is right, I believe everyone gets same letter except duration might vary from 18-24 months. Based on current timeline,i think we will get our interview appointment within 6-7 months after receiving first interview letter.

I didnt know that and don't think alot of others did either. Thats awesome news guys and very appreciated. I think I just lost a few pounds just from thinking in the last day or so.lol.

*wipes a tear*lol

Going to go for a run. :)

When I read a 'printed' letter prior I thought that meant for everyone at this time.

Thanks guys. Calling my wife before my run.

What country is she from?

Hi anybody has any idea, My Father submitted his passport (Canadian Embassy Dhaka) on Sept 27/2011, after 2 weeks they call and request police verification certificate when he has gone to submit the Police certificate they gave him to complete the background check declaration form. He submitted all they need.. Now already passed 3 weeks no news from them. I am in worry because his medical will expired on January 31/2012.

Thanks

Congratulations to every one who has had a relatively quick reunification with their loved ones in recent posting. The agony and pain is over. I hope all your aspirations come full circle.

My wife got a letter stating 24 months for interview and a phone call telling her 20 months until interview. Most likely it will be 14 -16 months for an interview. The average processing time has gone up form 20 to 22 months. The letter everyone is getting for an interview is a discouragement letter. Last year one of my wife's acquaintances also married a Canadian. From the time Singapore received her application it was 14 months to interview date. So now it is 16 months because the average time went up by 2 months. 2-4 months for passports and Visa. 1 or 2 months to finalize things at home. Time to buy plane tickets. There you go 22 months. The person only becomes a statistic when she/he enters Canada. The last step is where the spouse meets the immigration officer at the airport. The immigration officer closes the file. The spouse has landed. 22 months average processing time is counted from moment Singapore receives an application to the moment one enters Canada.

Those who have spouses on interview queues I believe this is the wait. 80% in 22 months 90% in 29 months. I guess 10% never make it. The spouse has to travel with valid visa and medical. Once Singapore requests the applicant to redo medical and police record time is limited.

The only thing I can see that would marginally speed up things would be to pay all fees in advance and use courier for all mailing needs.

"We started processing xxxx's application on November 9, 2011."
but Ecas change after one week. Letter was issued on November 10, 2011.
Suva, i think you will get passport request very soon and good thing is you don't need to redo medical. so it will be quick for u.

I see. 14-16 months from when Singapore received the application. That makes alot of sense CF. Appreciated.

My wife will be faxing the letter to me today so I will get to read it. I 1st assumed that it was 24 months from the date on the letter. :o

That sounds right when I take the time to think about it! ;D

We were married less than 2 years so it does fit with your belief that any married less than 2 years go to interview.

Right now just hoping and waiting to see if this new 'conditional spousal visa' will offer any better options.

I had high hopes for "conditional spouse visa" I read all the government publications. There is no mention of speeding things up with conditional spousal visa. It is only a deterrent. I think the real deterrent is that the applicant can't sponsor another person for at least 5 years if they divorce. It gives the sponsor some rights as well. The way it was set up before the landed spouse has all the rights and the sponsor all the responsibilities.

If the deterrent works maybe it will speed up things because 25% less applications but this is not for you and me. We are already in the system. The long wait for an interview may be intentional so that married couples meet the requirement of at least two years marriage to obtain PR.

The new rules will be applied as of January. I do not believe that people who obtain Conditional Spousal Visa will arrive in Canada before those already in the system. They have to get rid of the backlog with a deterrent i.e receive less applications.

I was married in Sept 2010 it has been a little over a year. The way I estimate things my wife will have interview in Sept. A decision will be made. Funny! it will be two years of marriage before they make a decision and not before. It is the test of time.

I think for many the interview is just to prove that you know each other and that there is an ongoing genuine relationship. Keep all proof of your relationship and send it to your spouse before the interview. She will have the opportunity to present new evidence of on going relationship.
