I landed on Aug 10 at Montreal with my wife. We had 4 suitcases full of her books, clothes and all other essentials. She had a lot of jewellery on her carry on bag.
It took us almost 4 hrs to clear immigration. The officer asked her our marriage date and educate her on condition 51 as she is sponsored by me. Then sign the COPR and tell us to wait.
Then later he called us again and welcome her in Canada and gave some guides,books etc and asked us how many baggage we brought and whats inside. I told them I already filled up the B4 form with the stuff I can think of with CAD values. He was very happy and asked for that. I gave that and he went through the list and the values one by one. my total value was around 20000. He didnt ask for any jewellery receipts and thank God didn't open our bags as while we were waiting they were opening up bags one by one of other immigrants.
The thing they are concerned about seems like with the team "gifts" as everyone say gifts but they need specific on that like what sort of gifts as it could be anything.

I am very surprised to see the Singapore doing very fast family sponsorship and glad to see how happy couples are when reunite with other half .

So my status: "Sponsorship Application Status - Decision Made" and "Permanent Residence Application Status - Application Received" On Jan 2014 got an letter from Singapore about my wife being on interview list and approx. time is 24 months. I am pissed!

Anyone on same boat as me?

Sorry you are on the interview queue. There are at least 10 others who posted they are also on interview queue and currently waiting. Nothing much you can do until you receive the date, but I recommend calling in order to make sure they know exactly what your current e-mail address and residential address are so there are no mix-ups when the date is sent to you.

I don't think so. They will return your PP with visa soon. Have patience, keep busy and just relax.

They say the waiting time is up to 24 months. This is completely ridiculous and if it's like the website, I think they put the worst case scenario (i.e. it is stated that processing time is 28 months for Singapore office for PR and usually from what I've seen it takes from 9-12 months, but it CAN go up to 28, like if you are asked for an interview for instance). Is there any data on actual waiting time? I mean, are there any posts about the recent delays for interviews?

Thanks bud, I contacted local MLA but since it is not a special case, nothing can be done.

Actually, the 30 month wait time is based on the average of 80% of applications and does not include those on the interview queue. Also most cases I have seen are the 15-20 month variety. Sure there are some completing it in 12 months or less but I have seen many more closer to 20-24 months (especially from 2011 and most of 2012). Then you have to include all of the backlog applications and based on stats from 2012, you can see how 30 months is calculated.

All we can do is hope our application is complete and there is no doubt of genuitity of relationship and that it moves along quickly from one officer to the next. Also, with the strike resolved last year, hopefully it was for a purpose and they are working hard to shorten these long wait times for all.

I haven't seen any but if i have time, i will like to read this topic from early 2013 and on wards.

You will be suprised at what you can learn. Lots of helpful, sharing, posters who have been through all kinds of scenarios.

If the current processing time for SVO is showing 28 months... this is the time it takes them to finalize 80% of the applications... this time frame of 28 months does not include if you are required for an interview.
If you are in the interview queue it could take longer than the 28 months

However ... I have seen a few individuals get through in less than 6 months... majority are taking between 9-15 months
And the biggest thing is the Visa Officer that your file lands on the desk of... there is one VO who is notoriously slow... until PPR... then once PP is received... it is sent back pretty quickly

Since mid 2013... SVO has definitely improved even though the processing time has increased.
