I'm a little concern now. My wife's status changed from "Application Received" to "In Process" on Sept 18th, since then we have not heard anything from VO. Other applicants with similar time frame had been request to resubmit their medical and criminal result and passport within a few days of their status change. Should I be worry that my wife's application might be tag for interview?

Usually once it goes in process people dont get called for interview. In process is positive, they might ask for additional proofs or request passport for visa, hang on, check your wife emails, junk mail... you will get news soon. my ecas still show application reveived since 2011 n 8months later we received interview letter, so dont worry abt intv.

Hello all,

Just got some great news today :D My wife got her PPR via email today :D

Already have the flights booked to go to Singapore to submit passport in person for next week.

Finally know the reason why we had to wait so long after they had received my wife's medical results too. It was because she needed to submit finger prints to the RCMP in order to get a Canadian Police check as well since she had lived in Canada for more than 6 months before. This added 4 months to the process. Also, a month ago she was requested to pay the fee for an ARC (Authorization to return to Canada) as she had a deportation order previously (don't worry, she's not a criminal or anything : P). Thankfully she was granted it and it took less than a month : )

Just thought I would share with you guys : )

Hey Spondb, are you sponsoring from Vietnam as well?

Certainly, it is good news if your medical extension is being requested as it means you are eligible. Also, it doesn't make sense for the extension request to take longer than the time for re-med processing. I believe they use email and an online system (GCMS), so, hopefully, it doesn't take too long. You should receive something soon, but you should check with your MP just to find out what's going on.

Best of luck! I'll keep you updated!

Hi thepie,
I am from Bangladesh.
And hope we get extension soon.

But you never know, Extension might take longer , I send an email to the SVO , they said it might take few months, so I donot have definite idea what they meant by Few.

Had you have any chance to ask SVO how long the process could take or do you know any other person who got their extension and how long that take ?

Its weird that the VO told you it might take few months to extend the medical, if its true than i guess doing a new medical would take less time?confusing.. Hopefully it doesnt take months as the VO said. goodluck

Hi Sponbd,

When my wife submitted her ppr package to IOM (International Organization of Migration), where they send the package to Singapore, they told her it was the first time they have ever seen a medical extension. They were even reluctant to send it because they weren't sure if such a thing existed. So I guess this procedure is still new and I have never heard of anyone else in similar situation like ours. However, I suspect that it's not the medical extension that is time consuming, but the queue time for our papers to be reviewed by the visa officer. It definitely makes no sense if the medical-extension takes longer, especially if the new procedure is aimed at increasing operational efficiency.

Anyways, the way SVO works is still quite a mystery. We just have to 'hang' in there...

If anyone else out there with a similar medical-extension predicament, please post!

Just to answer your question. No I have not asked about how long it takes for the medical extension. I will ask my MP to send them a reminder email in November if there still isn't any news. IOM informed my wife that it may take from 4-6 weeks (and even up to 3 months) before we get a response. The visa officer probably gave you a conservative timeline just to be safe. I'm sure you'll get something before then.

Cheers and best of luck!

Hello, I'm also sponsoring my wife from VN.

App filed to Mississauga: Dec 6, 2011
Got an email Jan 31, 2012 saying that I am eligible as a sponsor and the application has been forwarded to Singapore, but in my eCAS under my wife Permanent Residence Application Status, it shows the application and Medical Results has been received on Dec 6, 2011, same day as Mississauga...how's so?

BTW, it's still "Application Received"

Hello,

Approximately how long after an app goes "in process" do they change the address on ECAS?
