Hey all,
I figured I'd update you all on our situation here. I'm two weeks away from my next visit to Vietnam, and I'll be taking two whole months this time. We've already got a lot of plans, so it'll be a busy time for sure. Our hope right now is that by the end of the visit, we'll have heard back from CIC about whether or not they want us to attend an interview. If we don't have to attend an interview and a PPR is issued right away, then we'll prepare to come back to Canada together at that time. If we do have to attend an interview, we've agreed that I would come to Vietnam so that we could be together while we do the rest of the waiting. I'm planning to talk to a lawyer about our rights, responsiblities and options in that respect, which I've outlined elsewhere (http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/our-singapore-timeline-vietnamese-wife-t72878.0.html;msg1265804#msg1265804).

The good news, which I already reported in the above thread, is that I finally got a response from my MP's office regarding the status of our application. The secretary was able to access the notes on our file and found that the last update on the file was in December, and that apparently the officer that examined our case said he felt satisfied that our relationship was genuine. YAY! Of course, he also explained that there were several more stages to the process, and that the next likely thing to happen was for us to get a request for updated medicals, and possibly other information. He said we could probably expect a request by 9-10 months in. The file's been in Singapore since August, so that's 6 months. Like I said, we're hoping that we'll get some sort of response by mid-April, which is when I'm scheduled to return to Canada this time. Please pray for us. It's been great to read about others in this thread finally receiving PPRs and hearing back on their files—hopefully our wait will be over sooner rather than later, too.

Contacting local MP?

Hi all,

I have a rather stupid question here. How am I going to contact my local MP, regarding my wife's PR application in Singapore. What is the procedure to contact the MP? What is the information I should provide? ect. And the MP is Marc Garneau.

BTY, I'm yet a citizen, will the MP be really helpful? I won't be able to vote for his party anyway :p

Thanks

You should contact the MP's constituency office, for which you can find contact info here: http://www.marcgarneau.ca/en/contact/. It says the phone number is 514 283-2013. Call them up and explain your situation, when you submitted your application, and everything that's happened since. It helps to have specific questions you want to have answered. In my case, I told them that I was thinking of sending additional evidence in a package to Singapore, but that I wanted to make sure they hadn't started processing my file or else I wouldn't bother. Like I posted above, they were able to access the notes on my file and tell me what had happened so far, that they had indeed started processing, and that I should expect some sort of letter soon. Be aware that they probably have hundreds of immigration cases to follow up with, and that there may be some delay before they get back to you. Ask them when you can expect an answer and call them back if they don't get back to you before then. Regardless of whether you're a citizen, you're still their constituent, so they do have some sort of responsibility to fight for you.

Hope this helps!

This is REALLY odd... our ECAS status hasn't chance since May 27, 2011.

ECAS has been showing (under Permanent Resident) is that they've received our application. Since then there has been no "official" communication let alone a PPR. At this rate, we have to re-do our medical again :(.

I Emailed them once, and they replied with "This file is pending review by a Visa Officer. Once the file is reviewed, our office will advise you of the next steps. Please wait to hear from us." back in December 07, 2011.

It's been over six months since the Singaporean VO received our file, but we have yet to hear anything from them (in regards to the application process, of course). We haven't seen anything returned to us either. I'm getting insanely worried, might really contact my MP.

Anyone here have any experience ordering a CAIPS note? The form is mighty confusing to decipher!

I think is beginning of looking up your file as my experience. Singapore received my file July 11 and i send them an e-mail August abd i get reply from them.
File is now in queue awaiting review by officer. Please wait to receive further instructions, if any, from this office.
Sept to Nov my wife address was missing . Jan they start process my wife file. Order for GCMS after 1-2 months to see what they did review.

I have a good news to share with you.Probably some of you remember that my wife was in interview list and i was very upset. Because, we applied for PR on March,27th,2011 and then they put us in 24 month interview queue at November. But i didn't lose my hope and in the mean time, i applied for TRV for my wife to celebrate our first marriage anniversary together in Canada. But she was again called for an interview for the TRV yesterday but she successfully passed the interview this time . Visa officer advised her to do her medical again because the old one was going to expire on January.Visa officer also told her ,they will issue her PR visa instead of Visitor visa . So, she will not need to wait for 24 months anymore. We are very very happy now. And I am going for 2 weeks vacation this Friday and to bring her here in Canada.

Tips for you guys who are waiting for interview:
Apply for TRV for one month ,give all the documents that is helpful . And if you are lucky , then you might get PR or multi-entry TRV . If you need any further help, then feel free to contact with me at my email address: prince_buet @ engineer.com. Btw, I am from Bangladesh and this kind of visa is called "Dual Intent Visa" .

Have a gud night. It was wonderful journey with all of you guys. You gave lots of information ,specially this website. Thanks to all.New journey is going to begin......................................
Hi stupidrim ,
I am willing to apply TRV for my wife,
One question: Did you submitted the Notice of Assessments ? For this year I have not yet filed a Tax form as I haven't received T4 from my company.
I would be very grateful to you if you can provide some tips and summary of your experience.

Address disappeared could be good or bad. It's mean either they look up your file, add info to GCMS notes, could be request some. It depend which stage you are . If it is first stage mean they are doing initial review but ecas you will not see nothing.

Based on the discussion at the end of the following linked thread, it would seem that the disappearing address may just be a server glitch that's not related to updates to a file, and that any connection between the address disappearing and an update on your file is coincidental. Others believe there might be more than just a coincidence, but there's not really any strong evidence either way, so it's impossible to know. There's no harm in hoping, of course.
