From the whole campaign, I have to admit Trump is really a smart man.

While media tried to make people believe he is a racist, he is actually against uncontrolled, illegal and bad quality immigrants in the name of political correctness, As a smart businessman, I'm confident he will welcome immigrants of good quality, which can bring true value to the country. Just look at his wife, a perfect example of immigrants he would bring in.

About NAFTA, he would never scrap it, but he would definitely renegotiate it, to better serve America's interests. Again, as a smart businessman, he would definitely keep TN visa, maybe a little tweak on it, avoid it to be abused to bring in low quality workers.
He's unpredictable and has the tendency to do he thing without consulting with the team, that has been said, now he's is a President and in that level words matter even more, he better brush up his communication skills before igniting a civil war cover Misspelling or locker room talk..., as for the NAFTA, or the Wall no one can predict ... my 2c

Don't take politician's campaign promise too seriously... many will just be left there unfulfilled or forgotten, for example, anybody still remembers 'repeal C-24' in Canada?

Remember all the Americans who said they were moving up here when Bush got re-elected in 2004? Well, 99.99% of them never came.
I did, but I was/am a dual. Very glad to be here instead of Trumpland.

What about Reaganland when Reagan, "the actor" ran for president and won. It turned out he was viewed to be the best GOP president US ever had. Not to say Trump will be the best president but who knows.

Yes, you think Reagan was great, because you're a Conservative/Republican. I don't think he was great, I don't think Bush was great (he started the whole Middle East disaster), and Trump is just plain unfit.

And you think Obama was great? The guy who got nobel peace prize for being elected while the world went into chaos. Pulled out of Iraq too soon and ISIS filled the vacuum. The guy who drew the red line in chemical attack in Syria and didn't respond when Bashar crossed it. Now every country will be pushing their limit against US knowing Obama wouldn't respond. (ie Russia, China) Brought in Obamacare that now majority in US hated it. Refused to make a decision on keystone pipeline when its own state research says it has little/no environment effect on it. Some president he was. Spineless president is what he is.

I rather have a hawkish US president than a spineless pacifist president.

I rather have a president who can talk softly and carry a big stick.

Having read your right-wing posts over the years, I have a question. Why did you move (presumably from Albania) to a country, Canada, that Harper referred to as "a Northern European welfare state in the worst sense of the term, and very proud of it." I mean, after the death of Hoxha, why not seek out another strongman-type dictatorship?

Who said anything about me moving to Canada? Making assumptions much?

Besides there is a big different between a dictator and elected president.

Are you kidding me? his wife an example? of what exactly? She worked illegally in the US years before she got a green-card, for which she did not apply, as she claims. Except for selected people under the visa lottery scheme, US green cards cannot be applied for by the beneficiary, someone else needs to apply on their behalf (spouse, employer). It is dubious how she got it in the first place. And she's no example of anything, unless being a nude model who snatched a rich husband is exemplary for you. That's not the type of immigrants countries are exactly benefiting from. That is an insult to immigrant that actually have worked very hard to establish themselves in another country.

Oh, you're from Canada? You've mentioned that you lived in the USA, and with your admiration for right-wing governments, I just wondered why you would be in Canada, with its reputation (with Americans) for socialism.

Funny that you made no rebuttal about my thoughts on what Obama has done. Obama's socialism and his actions speaks for itself.

There is a famous line I am sure you have heard many time.

"The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money"

There is another famous line that rings true.

'If you're not a liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative by the time you're 35, you have no brain.'

BTW, I have supported both Liberal and PC in the past. So I am not always right wing as you think I am. I always vote in what's best for Canada long term so that my children will have a future in Canada. I don't want my children and their children to be subject to high taxes, poorer services, poor economy, due to our short term selfish needs or parties that have poor money managing skills (spend more than what they take in). I liked the 90's when the liberals were hit with a reality check on their spend thrift ways and how it was hurting Canada's economy. I like someone who has to make tough unpopular decisions that is in the country's best interests.

Take Mulroney for example. He brought in free trade with US (supported him for free trade) and the hated GST (voted him out) that saved Canada's bacon. If it wasn't for Mulroney, Canada's economy would still be in stuck in a rut due to Trudeau Sr's debt of socialist spending habits. Now that's leadership.

The Tory leadership candidate’s campaign has proposed screening immigrants for as-yet undefined Canadian values, while criticizing her fellow candidates."
“It’s why I’m the only candidate who will ensure that every visitor, immigrant, and refugee will be screened for Canadian values,” said her latest campaign missive.

This was at the end of October, Donald Trump spoke in Gettysburg, Pa., and released a plan for his first 100 days in office, (my opinion it's very easy to repeal a law then come up with a real remplacement plan), is the list below realistic and it can be achieved ? I will let everyone make his own opinion, (but the math doesn't adds up ),good reading:

The plan (below) outlines three main areas of focus: cleaning up Washington, including by imposing term limits on Congress; protecting American workers; and restoring rule of law. He also laid out his plan for working with Congress to introduce 10 pieces of legislation that would repeal Obamacare, fund the construction of a wall at the Southern border (with a provision that Mexico would reimburse the U.S.), encourage infrastructure investment, rebuild military bases, promote school choice and more.
On Wednesday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell mostly made nice with Trump but also shot down or expressed little enthusiasm in some of his plans. On Trump's proposal to impose term limits on Congress, McConnell said, "It will not be on the agenda in the Senate." McConnell has been a long-standing opponent of term limits, as NPR's Susan Davis reports. "I would say we have term limits now — they're called elections."
McConnell also threw some cold water on Trump's infrastructure plans, calling it not a top priority.
McConnell did say repealing Obamacare is a "pretty high item on our agenda" along with comprehensive tax reform and achieving border security "in whatever way is the most effective." But he also declined to discuss the Senate's immigration agenda further.
"We look forward to working with him," McConnell said. "I think most of the things that he's likely to advocate we're going to be enthusiastically for."
Below is the 100-day plan Trump's campaign released in October, called "Donald Trump's Contract With The American Voter."
What follows is my 100-day action plan to Make America Great Again. It is a contract between myself and the American voter — and begins with restoring honesty, accountability and change to Washington
Therefore, on the first day of my term of office, my administration will immediately pursue the following six measures to clean up the corruption and special interest collusion in Washington, DC:
* FIRST, propose a Constitutional Amendment to impose term limits on all members of Congress;
* SECOND, a hiring freeze on all federal employees to reduce federal workforce through attrition (exempting military, public safety, and public health);
* THIRD, a requirement that for every new federal regulation, two existing regulations must be eliminated;
* FOURTH, a 5 year-ban on White House and Congressional officials becoming lobbyists after they leave government service;
* FIFTH, a lifetime ban on White House officials lobbying on behalf of a foreign government;
* SIXTH, a complete ban on foreign lobbyists raising money for American elections.
On the same day, I will begin taking the following 7 actions to protect American workers:
* FIRST, I will announce my intention to renegotiate NAFTA or withdraw from the deal under Article 2205
* SECOND, I will announce our withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership
* THIRD, I will direct my Secretary of the Treasury to label China a currency manipulator
* FOURTH, I will direct the Secretary of Commerce and U.S. Trade Representative to identify all foreign trading abuses that unfairly impact American workers and direct them to use every tool under American and international law to end those abuses immediately
* FIFTH, I will lift the restrictions on the production of $50 trillion dollars' worth of job-producing American energy reserves, including shale, oil, natural gas and clean coal.
* SIXTH, lift the Obama-Clinton roadblocks and allow vital energy infrastructure projects, like the Keystone Pipeline, to move forward
* SEVENTH, cancel billions in payments to U.N. climate change programs and use the money to fix America's water and environmental infrastructure
Additionally, on the first day, I will take the following five actions to restore security and the constitutional rule of law:
* FIRST, cancel every unconstitutional executive action, memorandum and order issued by President Obama
* SECOND, begin the process of selecting a replacement for Justice Scalia from one of the 20 judges on my list, who will uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States
* THIRD, cancel all federal funding to Sanctuary Cities
* FOURTH, begin removing the more than 2 million criminal illegal immigrants from the country and cancel visas to foreign countries that won't take them back
* FIFTH, suspend immigration from terror-prone regions where vetting cannot safely occur. All vetting of people coming into our country will be considered extreme vetting.
Next, I will work with Congress to introduce the following broader legislative measures and fight for their passage within the first 100 days of my Administration:
Middle Class Tax Relief And Simplification Act. An economic plan designed to grow the economy 4% per year and create at least 25 million new jobs through massive tax reduction and simplification, in combination with trade reform, regulatory relief, and lifting the restrictions on American energy. The largest tax reductions are for the middle class. A middle-class family with 2 children will get a 35% tax cut. The current number of brackets will be reduced from 7 to 3, and tax forms will likewise be greatly simplified. The business rate will be lowered from 35 to 15 percent, and the trillions of dollars of American corporate money overseas can now be brought back at a 10 percent rate.
End The Offshoring Act. Establishes tariffs to discourage companies from laying off their workers in order to relocate in other countries and ship their products back to the U.S. tax-free.
American Energy & Infrastructure Act. Leverages public-private partnerships, and private investments through tax incentives, to spur $1 trillion in infrastructure investment over 10 years. It is revenue neutral.
School Choice And Education Opportunity Act. Redirects education dollars to give parents the right to send their kid to the public, private, charter, magnet, religious or home school of their choice. Ends common core, brings education supervision to local communities. It expands vocational and technical education, and make 2 and 4-year college more affordable.
Repeal and Replace Obamacare Act. Fully repeals Obamacare and replaces it with Health Savings Accounts, the ability to purchase health insurance across state lines, and lets states manage Medicaid funds. Reforms will also include cutting the red tape at the FDA: there are over 4,000 drugs awaiting approval, and we especially want to speed the approval of life-saving medications.
Affordable Childcare and Eldercare Act. Allows Americans to deduct childcare and elder care from their taxes, incentivizes employers to provide on-side childcare services, and creates tax-free Dependent Care Savings Accounts for both young and elderly dependents, with matching contributions for low-income families.
End Illegal Immigration Act Fully-funds the construction of a wall on our southern border with the full understanding that the country Mexico will be reimbursing the United States for the full cost of such wall; establishes a 2-year mandatory minimum federal prison sentence for illegally re-entering the U.S. after a previous deportation, and a 5-year mandatory minimum for illegally re-entering for those with felony convictions, multiple misdemeanor convictions or two or more prior deportations; also reforms visa rules to enhance penalties for overstaying and to ensure open jobs are offered to American workers first.
Restoring Community Safety Act. Reduces surging crime, drugs and violence by creating a Task Force On Violent Crime and increasing funding for programs that train and assist local police; increases resources for federal law enforcement agencies and federal prosecutors to dismantle criminal gangs and put violent offenders behind bars.
Restoring National Security Act. Rebuilds our military by eliminating the defense sequester and expanding military investment; provides Veterans with the ability to receive public VA treatment or attend the private doctor of their choice; protects our vital infrastructure from cyber-attack; establishes new screening procedures for immigration to ensure those who are admitted to our country support our people and our values
Clean up Corruption in Washington Act. Enacts new ethics reforms to Drain the Swamp and reduce the corrupting influence of special interests on our politics.
On November 8th, Americans will be voting for this 100-day plan to restore prosperity to our economy, security to our communities, and honesty to our government.
This is my pledge to you.
And if we follow these steps, we will once more have a government of, by and for the people.

The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) was created by Congress, not President Obama. Outside of asking Congress to come up with a bill for him to sign and his signing it, he had nothing to do with the creation of the Affordable Care Act. Congress did that all by themselves. The Affordable Care Act was written by the lead lobbyist of the medical insurance lobby and was taken entirely from the Republican blue print of what health insurance should look like (authored by the Heritage Foundation). In short, "Obamacare" was a Republican plan, written by the medical insurance lobby and passed by Congress.

Saying that a majority of Americans didn't like Obamacare is rather misleading. In poll after poll, half of those who don't like the Affordable Care Act, don't like it because there was no public option -- they didn't disapprove of the rest of the act, they just felt it didn't go far enough.

The Keystone pipeline was opposed because it would cross one of America's largest aquifers. This aquifer provides drinking water to nearly half the continental U.S. and a large part of the country's breadbasket. The oil companies still show up with 1970s technology to clean oil spills, e.g., paper towels. The Keystone pipeline would not have provided cheaper oil for the U.S., nor created more than 100 permanent full time jobs. The oil would have moved from Canada to a port on the Gulf of Mexico to be shipped elsewhere. The Keystone pipeline is dangerous to America's water supply, dangerous to the health of Americans, dangerous to American farms, and just plain bad policy.

President Obama is not a socialist -- far from it. On most issues (not including the "divide and conquer" issues like same-sex marriage, reproductive rights, etc.), he is quite right of centre, even of the American centre.

This is hardly the forum for you to tell us what you prefer in an American president. If eligible to do so, you may make your preferences clear by voting in American elections; if ineligible to do so, then no one cares what you prefer in an American president, and rightly so!
