The people fleeing Trump to Canada can afford expensive gas and a condo in Vancouver, so expect another artificial boost to real estate prices. We aren't talking the deplorables here.

The Americans are going to be disappointed. They need a job offer in order to immigrate to Canada. Education and age is not enough. With a lot of unemployed Canadians due to oil crash, it is going to be a tough sell convincing government that no Canadians wants the job.

It's good thing Harper revamped the immigration rules to reflect job market demands instead of relying on education/age/language alone.

I guess we will be seeing a lot of illegal americans in Canada like US has with illegal mexicans.

If they have that much money they will end of paying taxes for both countries, i am sure they have better use for their money

so TN visa will be abolished?

Not likely. Trump can't just rip up the free trade. It has to pass senate and house in order to do that. A lot of GOP and Dem want free trade intact.

The only thing I can see that is in jeopardy is Obamacare now that GOP control both senate and house.

Obamacare is garbage, the cost has increased dramatically and more and more insurers are exiting the pgrogram. It created too many exemptions and let people pay a small fine to stay out of the program, which will never work and will drive the cost even higher. The only way to not fail is how Canada does it: everybody is in with no exemption

I agree.

The supreme court is also going to get screwed up now.

Not really. The supreme court will be the same as before. 5 conservatives vs 4 liberals once trump nominate a conservative judge. Trump says he will nominate a pro-life judge. To me that doesn't mean anything unless supreme court has ability to reverse precedent rulings like roe vs wade.

Currently it is screwed up now, with a few 4-4 rulings, it leaves a lot of issues in limbos.

Actually they will likely only pay canadian taxes only since Canada has higher taxes than US. They would only owe US taxes if US taxes were higher than Canada and they would only pay the difference.

Ie. If they paid 50000 in taxes in Canada and they owe 40000 in US, they only pay 50000 to Canada.

If they paid 50000 in taxes in Canada and owe 60000 in US, they only pay 50000 in Canada and 10000 in US.

Remember all the Americans who said they were moving up here when Bush got re-elected in 2004? Well, 99.99% of them never came.

Even the Canadians doesn't even want the Americans to come to Canada, despite Clinton being the favorite in Canada.

Of course not, there aren't enough jobs to go around for Canadians , why would thhey want any Americans to come and make the situation worse

From the whole campaign, I have to admit Trump is really a smart man.

While media tried to make people believe he is a racist, he is actually against uncontrolled, illegal and bad quality immigrants in the name of political correctness, As a smart businessman, I'm confident he will welcome immigrants of good quality, which can bring true value to the country. Just look at his wife, a perfect example of immigrants he would bring in.

About NAFTA, he would never scrap it, but he would definitely renegotiate it, to better serve America's interests. Again, as a smart businessman, he would definitely keep TN visa, maybe a little tweak on it, avoid it to be abused to bring in low quality workers.
