Hi! Please be kind enough to help me by answering the following question. My sibling is residing in Canada with PR and I'm applying to study there. Will him staying there affact my study permit? Is him residing makes it a higher chance of getting rejected? Please answer

The short answer is yes.

But you can't do anything about it, so just make sure your application is strong especially your ties to your home country.

I dont think it will affect your application but burden is on you to overcome other ties back home and if you will return at the end of your studies. Insome situation, if your sibling Permanent resident status was through protected status then officer may apply subsection 216 (1).

My sister and her family are PRs. I mentioned her in the family information form and listed her address, but I didn't add anything further about her in my application/SOP. It didn't affect my application negatively.

I am an adult with my own family and my own resources though, I had no dependence on her whatsoever. I am not even going to the same province as her.

What if I'm single and going to the same province? And I was thinking of mentioning my sibling in SOP.

What if I don't have any spouse nor any child as country tie?
They will look at it globally, but your ties in Canada and ties to your home country will be factor. They will look at what family members you have back home, whether you have a job to go back to, what your prospects are there, etc.

Doesn’t matter
My brother is Canadian Citizen, Parents hold PR and still I got my study permit application approved
It all depends on your application and how well you play with your words

Man this is great.
From where did you apply?
Do you have stronger ties in your home than those in Canada? how did you overcome this issue?
