i notarized everything because it is free here in the US.

But if you look at appendix A for your visa office, it tells you what specifically needs to be notarized.

Please read the Appendix A for the office where you are applying, most require only copies of the bio data pages, and very few things have to be notarized, usually professional certificates, translations, job contracts.

Could people who submitted full application to the visa office comment on this topic in more detail? I am also about to submit my full application after being recommended by Sydney CIU and wonder if passport copies need to be notarized. In the check list it says "copies of your passports" it DOES NOT say "notarized copies".

In Delhi, Visa office.below lines are there

4. TRAVEL DOCUMENTS AND PASSPORTS
• Passports or travel documents for you, your spouse or common-law partner and
your dependent children. Include only copies of pages showing the passport
number, date of issue and expiry, your photo, name, date and place of birth.
• If you live in a country different from your nationality, include a photocopy of your
visa
for the country where you currently live.
• You must hold a valid regular passport; diplomatic, official, service or public
affairs passports are not valid for immigration to Canada.

DOES NOT say "notarized copies'...

The opening paragraph of my own visa office (Accra) checklist reads "Send notarized photocopies of all documents except the police certificates, which must be Original.". Why not notarize the copies of the passport if it not gonna cost much so as not to leave room for "Had I known !!!".
Peace.

Hello Reupeshhari,

Where did you find a Free Notary Public? I always paid $10 per document.

Never send original documents but the police certificates!
They do not send the documents back!
I agree to send all copies as a certified. That's how they say in the guides...
And - why not? There is more to loose not to do that. I wouldn't take that risk for just to safe some money in the first place.

When we went to the bank they asked for the reason of the notarization. They told us that they where no longer allowed to notarize documents for any visa office.
Some rules are very strange.

The option I would select is not to tell any (or my) bank manager all about my process to immigrating to Canada - I rather pay to the notary who didn't even know me and doesn't care about any visa or immigration process. But its good option for people who don't care about this.
